View Full Version : Vanilla Marian Reforms(Is this an error?)
aren't the reforms supposed to happen as long as any city in the italian peninsula reaches huge size, or are there certain cities that this has to happen in? is there a specific year i need to wait until. it is 236 BC, i am Macedon, and currently Roma, Capua, and Arretium are huge. Minus the palace, am i supposed to build anything else? Is this a bug? I can't recruit my hysteroi pezhetairoi because of this event not happening.

There are two Marian Reforms:
1) The Vanilla one to get which all Vanilla conditions appy, we can't get around that one. Used to trigger some new units for non Roman factions - e.g. Seleukid Kataphraktoi.
2) The EB one, see the FAQ. (Found among the stickies, or just click here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=84854). To get the new units follow the instructions listed just below the reforms in the Gameplay section (IV).
Oh, I just forgot to add this smiley: :faq:

We moved the province which triggers it - it has nothing to do with the Italian peninsula now. It should happen naturally roughly 100-150 years into the game.
Blacksnail, is there any way to mod the year or number of turns?

The Vanilla marian reform is hard-coded. You would need to add the "italy" hidden resource, IIRC, to any highly populous region - perhaps to Latium2 which is I believe the internal name for where Roma is located. Look through the descr_regions.txt file in the EB folder for that region.
At any point that any region with "italy" builds an Imperial Palace, and it is after Vanilla 240BC or so (which is approximately EB 250BC), then the reforms will trigger.
I'm not sure if this is savegame compatible. You may need to delete map.rwm. If that doesn't work, I either recommend patience or that you restart your game.
