View Full Version : A little concerned about unit detail......

I was just wondering why the detail of units in Medieval seems inferior to Shoguns. I can make out everything on Shogun units right down to the separate armour pieces. The only unit that looks good in Medieval is the spearman. Every other unit is just a blob of colour that looks like it was put through a meatgrinder. I thought that this late in the development the graphics would be optimized with the focus shifted to balancing.

Maybe the final release will look better.. hopefully.

Still like the cav sprites of Shoggy.

The demo seems incomplete and suffers from numerous graphical issues they should have these silly issues fixed on release.

I agree.

Most of the time I am fighting to find a specific unit in the middle of that "HUGE red line" http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Yes with all the new Geforce 3-4 graphic cards out there, they will have to do something! It would be nice to see the units fight with all the small details. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hard Rock l would also like more detailed animation of the sprites but the maps now look sharper and overall better then those in Shogun and the backgrounds and the sky also looks top.
The units are of higher quality of those in Shogun for sure.

Found that the Graphics for the English were Fairly good but the graphics for the opposition was average to poor.
Some of the Saladin troops in Jaffa just look a blur close up.

Anyone else notice this?

aside from the above..
IMHO...all they need do is darken the armour a little and dull the colours a bit and perfecto.

i think this demo ver is a very early build - arrows do show and nit detail is about the same all round - from other threads and info i think the first demo is the "pre-quality" graphics engine with the non-supped up graphic/unit details.

Is there anywhere we can download the new improved demo from yet?

PCGamer issue 111 supplied V1.00 of demo.

What's the version number with issue 112?

Mine do look better than Shogun.

Perhaps it's my GeForce3...

PCGamer issue 111 supplied V1.00 of demo

This must be a different PCGamer than I have a subscription to, since mine just had issue 100, and no demo.

56k Modem + 200+MB Demo = No download. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

hope so...though I think the countrysides look much nicer than in shogun from what I've seen on the screenshots...and another thing, not really anything to do with the sprites but siege is cool esp. with the ability to follow the projectiles http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif.
