View Full Version : Polybian reforms
This is my first time playing EB and it's been great so far. However, I am unable to get the Polybian reforms. I already control all the required territory (Messana, Syracuse, Patavium, etc.) and the year is already 235BC. I read the FAQ and it states that the reforms should occur after 242BC. How can I trigger the reforms?
P.S. I did activate the script everytime I reloaded the game.

Do you have a building in the cities that says polybian reforms marker?
If you do all you have to do is build the next level of mic to access polybian units.

Hehe, that's the part I hate. Takes forever for my largest MIC in Rome to get another level up, let alone the 15000 it costs to build it. Why aren't all the existing soldiers just outfitted anew?

Because we can't reprogram the engine, unfortunately. There is no way to have a "succession unit" that transforms from one to another after a certain point.

I suspected as much. Too bad there aren't many decent strategy games to mod in this way, right?

It's possible to program, but adds another level of complexity to units that CA probably felt unnecessary - particularly because they weren't using it in the game.

Are yo saying that this feature could be added to rtw, if anybody could be bothered to go through the massive codding process?

Yes, provided someone could crack the source code first. But distributing modded .exe files is illegal, since you are distributing the actual program and not just the archives and image files.

Absolutely not, I meant that it is possible for CA to program it, not us. We can't program anything here; we are just using the framework they provide.

plus that would be realistically silly if every unit automatically got outfitted with new arms, armor, and fighting tactics. Even if we could I doubt it would be implemented.
