Not really sure if this was shared here. It is very simple but i didn't see it being posted here.

Using the hotseat/multiplayer method, there will be the auto-resolve issue. This is a no go for me. So i played around with the files and seem to find another way to it.

My method seems to solve the auto resolve problem but not 100% sure as i didn't test it alot.

How to do it:
please use the original medieval2.preference.cfg

1)
Go to descr_strat.txt, put either timurids or mongol u wan to play as in the playable side.

2)
Go to descr_events.txt, find this or the mongol event

; ------------ CORE GAME EVENT --------------
event historic timurids_invasion_warn
date 288 304

And change date to 1 3
This means the event will trigger at between turn 1 to 3.
U can put it to 100 110 but u do not wan to do this, u will know why later.

3)
Start a new campaign and select either timurids or mongol and start game. This will crash the game in ver 1.1 but the new ver1.2 will not. If it still crash your game, keep pressing ESCAPE key when u click start to skip the video.

4)
U will see a black screen as there is fog of war. U don't have the control of the mouse. Turn now is 1.
SAVE THE GAME. e.g. gamefile1
LOAD THE SAVE FILE. e.g. gamefile1
Now u have the mouse control. Click end turn. Turn now is 2. U lose the mouse control again.
SAVE THE GAME. e.g. gamefile1
LOAD THE SAVE FILE. e.g. gamefile1
Now u have the mouse control. Click end turn. Repeat until mongol or timurids appear and u will have your control back as normal.
How many times must u do this? Depends on the date u put at the CORE GAME EVENT. Thats why i mention to put 1 3. U can put it at 100 110 but u must save and load 100 times.

I tried to meddle with campaign_script.txt in order to get the mongol or timurids out in turn 1 but is unsuccessful as i know nuts about mtw2 scripting stuff.

Another thing to note is that, sometimes some of ur cities or castles will auto-manage themselves. Loading the save file will confirm cause it to happen. Reason for this is unknown. When it happens, what i do is to go to the Faction scroll, tick and untick the Auto-Manage checkbox. The tax level will still screw up though.

1 more, ur army stack will randomly join a jihad, this is unknown too.

I believe if any1 can provide the shortcut key to end turn, we can ignore the save and load procedure.

So you are saying doing it this way you can play out battles instead of auto resolving them? Thats would be sweet if true. Has anyone fully tested it yet?

I didnt test it alot but seems to be working fine for me.

Battles outside my turn doesnt seems to auto resolve, e.g. defending army sallies out, so seems to be ok with me.

why not a random 1-2 instead of 1-3 turns before they show?

*just wondering*

Coz I didnt try 1-2. I only tried 1-3. U can try it out. I did 1-3 to prevent screw ups.

Or you could go to like the descr_strat I believe it is and add baghdad as a starting province for the timurids, along with generating a general and whatnot. Then you have a city from turn 1, and don't have to wait for the event (or maybe you have to set the event to 1,1 so it always occurs first turn

I think you can use hotseat to play the mongols or tims, then save the game and then start again without hotseat enabled and still control them. I'm not really sure though.

The Custom Campaign Mod allows to play as mongols, rebels, timurides and papal state: http://204.155.67.203/med2/M2TWLauncher/news.php?Mode=Individual&StoryId=23

this might be a cleaner way to do this :2thumbsup:
