Yea, some of this stuff got cut. You never hear the message for when a daughter is born either. Not excellent news, merely "significant" and delivered in dead pan fashion.

We can hope that these might get utilized in a revamped diplomacy engine? Offering a daughter in marriage to seal an alliance? That kind of thing would be quite cool, and if they do it right, it could add new levels on intrigue. Of course, it would take a major overhaul of the diplomatic side, and I wouldn't expect to see it until TW2. *sigh*

seems like a waste of a good daughter seeing that the guy will break the alliance in like 4 seasons

Or you can disguise a Legendary Geisha as your daughter and have her marry a rival clan's daimyo, thus she can kill him on their wedding night. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Referring back to the Chosokabe clan emissary sound, I think you'll get to use it if you use the cheat code .conan. (need to start and end with a fullstop) which allows you to play as the ronins instead of one of the seven clans. I've played as the ronins once, but never bothered with diplomacy. So this is just my guess.

If you play the normal campaign, the ronins will get a Rank 5 general in Tosa. That's Chosokabe. I think Chosokabe was a real clan in Japanese history. But since STW simplified it to seven clans, Chosokabe was represented as one of the ronins / minor clans.

i was under the impression that at that time there were many daimyos, some that only controlled one or two provinces.

Has anyone had any success at forging alliances while playing ronin?
As ronin my emissaries have sustained an even more alarmingly high mortality rate than is usual. The nearest to success was an alliance with Shimazu which ended the same season when the Daimyo was assassinated.Hojo and Takeda refused to see me and Uesugi and Imagawa bumped off my envoys as soon as they reached the respective Daimyos.
I've wiped out Oda and have been at war with Mori from day 1.To date (1540) I've got through 12 emissaries and have now given up on the diplomatic front and now churn out honour 2 ashigaru instead,a much more useful product altogether.

What's the matter? Do Daimyos consider it beneath themselves to parley with revolting peasants? Just thought it would be nice to see "Ronin" in the "Allies" column for a change.
