What do you expect from MP battles? IMO prepare to face the 10000 florin billmen/longbowmen combo on the medieval ironing bored http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/eek.gif

i expect it to be very sweet cause there will be a bunch more unit types and different ways of battle example: say ur defending i would get 2-4 catapults and blow the hell out of the enemy before they get to me ahahahaha muahahahahah.... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/redface.gif

Every week or so we will hear cries of "XYZ armies are unbeatable! We need a patch!"

Actually, I'm hoping for lots of variety in maps being played and armies used. No more "here's my standard online army".

I wish the on-line army would be randomized (not stupidly randomized, but random enough). For instance, you will have 4 cav units, 4 spear/nag/ashi units, 4 missile (gun/arch/cavarch) units and 4 nd/monk units. The computer picks the units. You have to play with what dealt to you.

After all, the ultimate skill is to play and win with whatever army you have.

Lol or not, probably it will end up finish that way if people are once again playing solely for the ladder instead of increasing their skills by being good at every map/florins/faction.

I agree...
he random armies in STW are plain stupid, it pickded me a H4A2W1 Naganita,H4 A0W2 BN,H3 A1W2 NC and a H3A3W1YS... something very simulair to that...instead I'd like to see a random army which is adjustable, say that you can make the PC pick between 12 and 16 units (instead of 4 beefed up units) and maybe something like at least 2 cavelry units, any cav. 3 shock troops,any shock troop,4 yari units,any yari (not YC) and 4 ranged units ,any ranged unit (not CA).

With all the different unit types, there will be a lot of pre-mature complaining about balance but it will be a while before we'll really know. As each "unbeatable" unit is proclaimed, more than likely somebody will eventually figure out how to counter it. STW went through a similar period. WM and the Monk Rush come to mind. I'm sure they will need a balancing patch but there seems to be too much variety to nail down balance issues quickly.

from the screen shots, it looks like that in western europe, it will be mash clashes of knights and nobles, eastern europe,fast cavalry and emphesus of missle troops, africa and middle east and golden horde, light infentry and FAST cavalry

We need a "remember" feature army though like in custom battle.

We all take the same/similar army so that would really make games faster.

i hope there'll be a limit to the number of each troop type you can use... i.e. no rushing with 16 of the same unit... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

if that is indeed the case expect an all-round better MP experience.

However, MP is bound to get off to a shaky start with bugs, etc and take a few months of patches to remedy.
