I have .81a installed using BI, darth's formations, and AI money script. I get a CTD when defending in battle against epiros in 229. But, only if I fight it on the battle map, if I autoresolve (which loses every time) then I can get past it, but I'd rather win. Once I win the battle on the battle map and hit the checkmark on the victory screen it crashes. It's kind of a huge battle and a challenge to win so it's kind of a pain to keep fighting it over and over again trying stuff, but I want to get past it. I was thinking of installing the .81a V2 patch, but I couldn't find any information on whether or not it's save compatible. I also tried not activating the campaign script which did not get me past it. I also have all the permanent CTD fixes installed, but I did not try the temporary ones. Just wanted to see if anyone has any ideas as I've already fought this battle half a dozen times and it takes like half an hour each time.

Thanks!

Are there more than two armies in the battle? If so that is probably the old reinforcement CTD.

I would suggest using the 'auto_win' cheat.

Maybe post a savegame too...

I have an idea, try the temporary fixes.

Very many of the CTDs occurring in the current build will be eliminated by applying the fixes we've already discovered. If you have 0.81a, install 0.81a v2 now. This applies even if you don't have a problem right now! The 0.81a V2 patch is savegame compatible and will do no damage. Install all the permanent fixes for 0.81a V2 too, even if you don't have a problem right now!

Thanks for the replies. I'll go ahead and install eb v2 and the fixes and we will see, appreciate the info Bovi, sorry I didn't notice that in the thread. If that doesn't work, I'll probably go ahead then with an auto_win, I pretty much destroy them every time anyways, good idea Marcus. Yeah, the enemy does have 2 armies that attack my 1, so that could have something to do with it I suppose if they lose. Who knows?

I should probably mention at this point I was being attacked by a neighboreing epirite army trying to break my seige of Segestica. Well V2 made no difference, but I went ahead and won the battle with auto_win, a shame the computer docks so many casualties, but oh well. Epiros still managed to hold onto the city though, next turn in winter they attacked again this time with 2 neighboring armies, which I managed to defeat, but once again, after the loading screen bar to the campaign map fills up the game crashes. I'm tired of fighting the same battle over and over again so I don't know if I will bother with the temp fixes, so I think I'll just auto_win this one to, hopefully I won't get CTD's in any more battles after I take Segestica. I'll post a save as well.

If it is the reinforcement CTD, you could try things like using a different general, or no general. But it may be the enemy general in the city that is causing the crash. You could auto_win a siege when there is no reinforcing enemy army, if you don't mind taking the city sooner than you should have...
