View Full Version : Will there be anything in EB2 that you'll have to CUT?

I know everyone's excited about EB moving to M2TW at some point in the future, as M2 has more features and greater limits than RTW, but I have one question. Is there anything that M2 can't do that RTW can? I already know about viewing your settlement, but as far as I understand, it doesn't work in EB1 either (i.e., it only works in RTW vanilla) - correct me if I'm wrong.
Cheers! :beam:

Most likely Siege battles will have to be switched off. Its still to soon to tell but one thing is sure first releases wont have cities redone.
Other then that You will get more, not less.

Meh don't know if it'll be worth it in that case. Hopefully somebody will figure out how to remodel the towns like Hoggy did with Blue Lotus. I just hope that when you guys do get cities working, please keep the castles! It's so much more refreshing then having to play "take-the-plaza" every time we attack a settlement.:dizzy2:

I don't know that we have discussed "switching them off" though. We are talking about the potential problems and such to be sure.

LorDBulA, wouldn't it make sense then to wait until the buildings had been reskinned and release EB2 with siege battles included (essentially releasing what would have otherwise been 2.1 or 2.2)? Or would people rather get the new factions quickly and not mind playing with (in my mind) such a large part of the game unavailable?

That would take an incredibly long time. Not to mention, personally I dont think siege battles are all that big a part of the game. I rarely play them myself since theyre so hard to realistically depict. Dont get me wrong they'll be fun once we get the buildings looking right.

DUN DUN DUUUUUUNNNN!!:jawdrop: :jawdrop:
I concur, I pretty much auto-play sieges. The only ones that are pretty enjoyable are only when they sally, so the city is only a prop.
The palisade sieges with rams are passable but the ones versus walled cities become boring and annoying after a few tries, so yeah bring on EB2 as long as autocalc and when playing VH auto_win (for those cases where the AI general is almost invincible on VH) work.

Yeah, I've been rolled back to working full time on the Bartix.:wall:
I don't think you should disable sieges battles, leave the option to fight them, for people who want it or for when it's necessary, those who don't want them untl they can play the full experience can just not do the siege battles.

I hear you. Their recruitment is a stone-cold mess. Why the hell does one faction need 5 different MICs at the same time?

Well when you recruit elephant cataphract chariots driven by ninjas... on camels!, let me see you use only 1 MIC. Even the mighty and resourceful Bartix needed a lot of MICs for their diverse recruitment roster.
Hey don't look at me... I didn't write this part of history...:laugh4:

Are we talking about MTW2 or EB?:inquisitive: I admit, I tended to get alittle confused as to why Constantinople couldn't build Varangians despite having the highest level barracks. Until I realized that it was a city, not a castle, and that for some reason, despite the Varangians being infantry, I needed to build some stables. WTF?:wall:

Hello...NINJAS? A-historical. Everyone knows they used nunchaku wielding buddhist monks... But Ninjas? Nah, that is too "medieval" for the Bartix faction. :laugh4:
elephant cataphract chariots you sir are deliberately misleading people. It is a known fact that they used SCYTHED elephant cataphract chariots...:clown: :eyebrows: :eyebrows:
I was hoping to push for catapulta on top of elephants, but no one seems to be interested. Maybe if I go for onagers instead...
We'll be cutting the Romani faction.
Excellent! :2thumbsup:
Onagers? why think so little? I believe a sorcerer with the power to summon Meteors the size of houses would be a much fitter option.
Or better, an Elephant with a Merkava on it's back now that'd be a blast.
Cheers...
Is there a Deathstar in the works?
There will of course be elephants carrying Uranus Death Ray cannons. The elephants probably won't survive more than one shot from this tremendous weapon with extreme splash damage, but then again so won't their enemies. As the beast and controller usually dies when firing, having ninjas controlling the beasts is too costly, so specially trained wardogs are used instead, barking at the elephants' ears to steer it.

Foreheads? No, no, my good sir. I think you're rather missing the point of their being naked in the first place.

Well, that is *not* the horse texture for the final version of the unit, so don't chew me out on that aspect.

The laser guns need to be desaturated though
Yes, and it's obviously lacking barding on the horn, and the tail is way too bushy. Its this kind of detail that takes such a long time with EB units.

EB is seriously lacking in hippies. I have yet to hear one mention about the Merry Pranksters being a recruitable unit: a Volkswagen Van with a gun on the top that shoots flowers... flowers with nuclear warheads inside.
Peace, Love and Nuclear Fire. :hippie: :smg:
Ah yes, but it is hard to prove that they did in fact use those weapons as we have found no evidence of it. However there is evidence (http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/game/168) of the unit itself.

Nut-uh, there's plenty of hippies in the game. as the Romans, I get bothered by those pesky Tarantine hippies all the time!:sweatdrop:
Yes, thank you, I always had the feeling that the unit is depicted in a very false way. Bad research, some EB member must have mistaken the well known hippies with the mysterious hippeis. "Hippies" -as everybody knows- is the Greek word for peaceful warriors on two-legged riding devices (some said of human material), all using drugs to boost performance. In the game the riding device has four legs!
Btw I nearly never played sieges myself (it's boring) so I would prefer a quicker release of EB2 without cities changed.

Wouldn't that make the Gaesatae hippies too?
We could just add a few flowers to their hair, and they'd be done
And a belt. It would be banging the bong against the wong, known to induce a berserker rage in anyone.

Actually this reminds me.
If they aren't wearing pants, why do they need belts :(

I didn't think of that lol
Stop..Knowing...things.
Guess I was too unclear... They need the belt to hang their bong on (hippies, remember, never leave home without it). And that bong will bang.
