Basically, an acquaintance of mine is having increasingly large battles in his campaign. Something like around 6000 men. In a custom battle this is fine and it runs acceptably.
However in the campaign he is getting the message saying that his PCs specs arent good enough and so not all soldiers make it to the battle. It seems he has a cut off at around 4000 soldiers no matter how much he turns down the graphical niceness.

So the question is, how do you get around this? Is there a way to stop the game deciding what battles your PC can handle?

Im sure someone said something about this for either Med 2 or Rome.

Basically, it's got nothing to do with the hardware (although the pop-up implies so.)
Just go to your preference. txt file of your MIITW folder, set:

"UNLIMITED_MEN_ON_BATTLEFIELD:FALSE" to
"UNLIMITED_MEN_ON_BATTLEFIELD:TRUE"

That would make them all appear, but you are still limited to your 20 unit army, unless you let the AI control them.
I've had some "fun" 1500 men VS 6000 timurids with this setting.

Excellent! Thanks for the answer.
