Hello world!
I decided to join these forums, as I constantly need help with my campaign. Call me "Sonic," if you will!
Welcome Sonicdahedgie ~
How can we help you
Ask your questions and I'll run away and wait until someone else answers them...
Just kidding ~;)
Enjoy your stay at the Org :jumping: :cheerleader:

Welcome to the Org, Sonic  :balloon2:
Greetings, Sonic. You are to rejoice in finding yourself on this forum for it is among the best online communities. On another note, your overture reminds me of... terrible programming lessons I have once endured :saint:
What kind of aid do you require with your campaign? Have you specifics?

Oh, I'm not having too uch trouble. Just a bit surprised at trying to take over Egypt EXTREMELY late into the campaign.
I can take on calvary and chariots, but their pikemen....ARGH...
(I'm a calvary loving player.)

Welcome Sonic!
With phalanxes, you need to flank and hold. Place some high morale infantry units in the front to pin them down and send your cavalry, or any other unit really, round the rear for the routing attack! Good luck, cheers!

Welcome Sonic!
Indeed, Egypt in the late game is a pain to destroy, but with Omanes' tip, you should get out fine...

On the PLUS side, I'm freaking rich, so I can defend with bribes.
: P
Another option is to mobilize archers to pepper their rear. Either way the basis of warfare is to encircle, either full or half but half at least, and engage to destroy maximally or enforce their rout. Full encirclement allows maximum destruction of the enemy as routing is mostly negated.
Perhaps, with infantry units broadened to apply detailed unit flanking, you could lure their pikemen to the centre and apply overall half encirclement as if to pocket them. Their pikemen's utilization necessitates more than mere cavalry.
There are thus different effective ways to perish the foe. I suggest using combined forces instead of just cavalry: infantry, archers, cavalry, artillery --> you will find it highly efficient.
EDIT: I would not suggest bribes, even if you have vast sums of money. Simple adaptation to their pikemen's destruction will save you much and enables even greater fielding of your armies.
Welcome aboard, Sonicdahedgie. ~

One notable fact about pikemen, phalanxes and the like which you no dioubt have remarked is that they are not overly... quick. In fact they are pathetically slow to manuever and will, like velcro, adhere to anything you put in their way. As stated above, fix them in the front with any unit that can hold for a few minutes against them and use a better unit to flank them. Unless they are in the middle of a line, you should easily be able to get all the way round 'em.
It is written.

Well, APPARENTLY I have the buggiest version of all of RTW, which explains a great deal of my tyroubles. I was wondering why the Pharoh's bowmen could make my Roman calvary rout, even with repeated charging....
