Is it the epic battles? The spell-binding sieges? Sophisticated diplomacy? What grabbed you to MTW? Better yet what's your favorite feature?

I really look forward to the sieges. I think nothing will be better thn to play a 45min siege wit catapults lauchings and walls cracking! The Antioch Battle really grabbed me.

You ask a difficult question as there are so many things, but off the top of my head:

1) sieges!
2) diplomacy
3) different battle maps depending upon which province you are attacking from
4) bestowing titles to your generals to maintain loyalty
5) crusades
6) inclusion of the seas
7) trade and trade routes
8) "grand objectives" or whatever they are called
9) different factions, different units

and finally

10) the fun of figuring out how all this works!

Any game that allows me to play the Byzantine Empire and crush the Turks will get my vote! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

and I loved STW ,except that it gets a bit repetetive after a while, this'll be new and a lot more different things ,units and countries to conquer, so it promises to give me the hours of fun I had with STW +more http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif.

several things:

1. setting: a relatively historically accurate representation of the middle ages.
2. depth of strategic level: diplomacy, heirs, inquisitors, civil wars, etc.
3. epic battles
4. trade
5. the chance to get online and play those huge battles with/against all you people! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Wow, I had no idea about most of these features. Imo, all of the "problems" with the game happening in years instead of seasons will be dwarfed in comparison to all of the new advantages this game will have. I can't wait!

I guess because I liked Shogun so much. Heck, Ive had it on my harddrive since the first week it came out. For me that is amazing, because I buy a LOT of games. Most of them last about a week to a month max.

I know they would have to do something VERY stupid for me not to like it.

ancient warfare has allways been an interest of mine. castles, love em. catapults, love em. give me some bows and some swords, and i am happy. but the thing that made it's biggest appeal to me for mtw, the fact that it is supposed to be an improvement on stw, a game that rocks more then any other game i've ever played. i hope that it's as good a game at least http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

That's what I hope for, but not just the strategy part. I hope that M:TW can offer a better gameplay in general.

I was stunded when I first played STW and thought it was head of its time compared to any other war game. The reason Ill go and get MTW(or one of the reasons)is Im curious to see what advancments if any are new ie graphics,AI intellegents exc are new in the game. I'm not holding any high expectations to avoid being disapointed. After STW the only way the standard should go is higher not lower.

Many different reasons. Most of them were already posted by others. But one reason is particularly important for me:

The HUGE replayability the game will have considering what the DEMO offered.

I haven't seen such an Edit-Modify-Friendly game since I played Sid Meir's Civilization.

The Demo was not supposed to have the Editing/building tools already included but the files are so easy to understand and manage that it is really a joy to create new variations on the battles.

ANY original game gets old soon or later and unless there is a friendly way to make modifications and keep the game replayable that game is as good as dead.

I have played many demos and games where the game info is so encrypted and hidden that it is almost impossible to make MODs and the replayability value is over soon.

From what I have seen in the Demo I am looking forward to be able to create and recreate all my favorite historical battles http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

I am looking towards playing Russian faction, since japs were a bit "alien" to me, and I am sure that many others are looking towards an opportunity to play for their "home" country.

Honestly, if it weren't for this I would probably not buy the game.
