I just got a computer with windows Vista and I installed MMTW 2.:book: But I couldn't find the files for editing to get all the civilizations.:help: I got like half of them on a killing spree as Germany and I still want the Papal States!:furious3:

Papal States Isn't a playable faction such as The Mongols, Timurids, and Aztecs unless you mod your game or download a mod. I'm currently running this mod which lets you use These nations heres the URL

sorry can't link on first post.

Other then those 4 nations the rest are playable/unlockable.

UAC User account controls. Vista pretty much locks you out of changing anything, even with admin priveleges. There are work around but the best easy way is to be offline, disable user account controls, make your adjustments and then put them back on.

C disk-> Program Files -> Sega -> Medieval II Total War-> Data-> World-> Maps-> Campaign-> Imperial Campaign-> descr_strat-> Then you change the files that look like this ----

Playable:
England
France
HRE
Spain
Venice
End
Unlockable:
sicily
Milan
Scotland
Byzantium
russia
moors
turks
Egypt
denmark
portugal
Poland
Hungary
End

You Change this so it reads
Playable
England
France
HRE
Spain
Venice
sicily
Milan
Scotland
Byzantium
russia
moors
turks
Egypt
denmark
portugal
Poland
Hungary
end
unlockable
end

You can also edit other files within the files but create a backup file just in case your game doesn't run anymore so you can switch back the original file.

Again, its the User account controls of Vista, you cant edit anything with them turned on.

Hi GeoBeeChamp,
Don't worry, you can easily remove a file's read-only status. Simply right click upon the file, select the General tab and de-select the Read Only check box. After you have done this, press Ok and you may edit the file at ease. Hope this helps you, good luck, cheers!

Change the user accounts I installed it on a laptop with vista an even though it was on an administration privelage and right clicking the file to edit it still it refused to save. Vista seems to have a problem with this and it would not let me change anything in the descr strat file I had to disable user accounts as it was driving me crackers for ages trying to figure out what was wrong . I used to have win 98 and in that you could change anything at will then I got XP you could only change if you selected the edit box when you right clicked the file but vista is just that bit more cumbersome. To change this just go to Settings then select User accounts Then just turn off user account control once off you can change anything hope this helps clear up confusion.
