Hello admins, moderators, members, and so forth,

I've been attempting to input a custom title using an alphabet different from the latin one. It seems I can only fill the space with about, say, 5 or 6 characters. If longer than this it is cut off, while if you use latin characters, well... it's obvious; it can be much longer.

Is there a chance of solving it or should I not hope at all?

Why would you want to have a user title that almost noone can read? ~;)

Well, there is enough to read in my signature. But truly, I think a user title is to express a person (-- though some would possibly fill in something else which is fine too --) and I find that using a certain alphabet would better and more accurately do so in my case.

Aha, it's the first time I changed mine and it does express my person.
I hope you can fix it because I'm interested to see what alphabet you mean.:2thumbsup:

Why use some crazy alphabet, when you can state in plain english that you're a lesbian rebel?

I can't believe i put that there for an imaginary cookie. I still haven't got the cookie

Hello Bijo,

Some alphabets need more storage for a character, maybe it has to do with that? Or a character is identical to some sort of cut-off character?

Perhaps. I don't know. Αs far as I know it is not the case, but maybe you know more about it?

If I would enter a word like Λόγος (5 visible characters + an accent on ο used with a "dead key") it would appear properly, but a word that is visibly longer (and has one accent) is definitely cut off.

EDIT: it's Greek by the way.

Hello Tosa,

I'm still uncertain what it is you precisely meant by storage. You mean the actual visible space or some kind of storage that is invisible? And you refer to what exactly when you say "cut-off characters?" Please specify. In the way I understand you I think there's nothing of any cut-off character.

I haven't found anything indicating the Greek alphabet uses more storage other than perhaps the space on-screen, but, as said, what I tried to input is remarkably shorter in character length and space than I have witnessed with other custom user titles.

If it is just impossible, then, well... that's that. Then apologies for the botherations. I will seek more information.

Hello Bijo,

A cut off character is a character in a post that will stop storing the rest of your post. When you make an essay in Word and copy that straight to a post, it may end up being cut somewhere.

The bits required to store a character.

You want to post something Greek. Can you PM me the string so I can give it a look?

I've noticed that most sites, (I haven't really tried this one) totally reject non-latin alphabets.
