The annoyance of constantly having to search for the posts that enables EB for BI, as well as the annoyance that mods that introduce the shieldwall but make all sorts of other wacky changes, has driven me to create an installer. I've done an extensive write-up on my blog. (http://intellectuallystimulating.blogspot.com/2007/07/europa-barbarorum-for-barbarian.html)
It should be save game compatible if you've copied over the campaign folder manually. It's only 100K too.

That's cool. Unfortunately the team really can't benefit from it (~:mecry:) since we are always testing and working on the mod and need to all be on the same page with each other on this 1.5 build, but it might make it a lot more fun for some fans with BI. I hope to be able to play EB with BI when we're done, but that ain't happening yet.

Playing it with BI is a real treat. The AI actually uses the shieldwall from time to time, and is a nice tactic to have when doing city fighting or against cavalry. It also makes overhead phalanx units look more realistic. On the campaign map, the AI will actually conduct naval invasions. Also, in vanilla EB, the slingers-making-archer-sounds drove me bonkers, though I'm sure that fix could be ported back to EB with RTW.

What units get Shield Wall?

What units get Shield Wall?

All hoplites that don't have the phalanx ability, as well as underhand shield-and-spear units.

Hi guys!
Should I install EB in Barbarian Invasion first and then apply this patch or the other way around? Moreover, can I install the "AI Balancing" Mini-Mod afterwards?
By the way, it is a great idea to include the shield wall!

Oh right, can't help then. But if you just want to play on BI, just change the EB shortcut to look for the BI exe instead of the RomeTW.exe.

right-click on the shortcut, go to properties. A box will pop up. The the line titled "Target" replace the section that says "RomeTW.exe" with "RomeTW-BI.exe". Apply the changes and exit. The shortcut will know tell the game to use the EB data through the BI exe. You can only play EB through the provincial campaign option, however, if you do this, but it will be in BI.

You should use this guide to play with BI to get rid of some inconsistencies like having to use provincial campaign to play etc.
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showpost.php?p=1433613&postcount=85

I also read in the complete EDU guide by Aradan that the long_pike attribute is supposedly removed in BI. Does that mean that if you play with BI units using this attribute do not function as they are supposed to?

Ferromancers patch takes care of having to manually do those steps in the BI guide.

after I install Bi 1.6 should I install EB to rtw or bi folder and the same for the unofficial patch that seems to be the problem because When I do it that way it says I have the wrong disk in when I have bi in the cd rom drive.:2thumbsup:

Install EB to the RTW folder. IIRC, you also install the Unofficial Patch there too (I think thats the default).

Khazar_Dahvos

so thats it just trying to be clear after I install RTW and its patches and BI and the 1.6 patch I install EB to rtw folder (the default folder in install) then I install the BI unofficial patch also to the rtw folder correct. And presto it should work and I dont have to do any thing else. :juggle2:

mcantu

You dont need to install any of the RTW patches; only RTW/BI 1.6. Like I poster earlier...

RTW + BI + RTW/BI 1.6 + EB + Unoffical BI for EB patch (can we just call this the UBE patch maybe?)

Thanks Foot and Mcantu for hanging in there with me all I had to do was change the shortcut from rtw to rtw bi exe it works now. I just was waiting to do it until enough people had posted on the topic so I was 100% sure I really really appreciate the help guys and girls.:balloon2: :juggle2: :2thumbsup: :balloon2:

Your problem might be that you installed Rome: Total War to a folder different from the default. My patch assumes that you have RTW installed to Program Files. If you installed it to another root folder such as Games, you would have to change the install path when prompted.

Ferromancer,

Would it be possible for you to provide a more detailed list of the changes your patch makes?

Start new campaign, activate EB script, press ESC, select Game Options and set the battle_limit and manage_all_settlements options the way you like.
