Using liposuction to remove fat from a womans rear, culturing to get stem cells.... and then adding it to the breasts to move up a few cup sizes.

Looks like silicone-style implants are doomed (wahey! They never were a good idea, from either a male or female point of view). And masecotomy should be a lot less disfiguring in future for the victims of breast cancer and similar problems, which will help a lot for many. And we're all thinking of the medical applications first right?

People, the future is big and all-natural. Why I am not surprised that the Japanese are pioneering this? :laugh4:

The largest trial so far has involved 19 women in Japan. All of them had had at least partial mastectomies and all responded well to the treatment, with no major side-effects.

I then cogitate the minor side-effects.

Didn't see that...hmmm..

It might be that the word "major" in the text is just there unnecessarily. I'm not too impressed with the editorial review on a lot of BBC website articles these days, I wouldn't be surprised if it means "no noticable side-effects".

The other possibility is that there were minor issues, but I'd expect that it would relate to things like imbalances in the breast tissue formed, or perhaps discomfort. Actual pain or any health impairment should be classed as a major side-effect.

Rajiv Grover of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps) said he saw the research as a "positive development for medical science", but doubted whether it would provide any immediate results in cosmetic surgery.

Hmm, well, he doesn't sound too optimistic. You'd think he'd know what he was talking about too.

Of course, plastic surgeons who are trained in existing techniques and who make money from it won't be at all biased against a different method which doesn't seem to require such intensive and skilled surgery to implement.

Since this apparently has about even cost parity today (even though its just invented) it seems reasonable to assume it will get cheaper in future, particularly as more people could probably provide it (assuming its simpler process and can be done under local anaesthetic only).

BTW, that Rajiv man is in a very amusingly acronymed organisation...

I'm not sure it would curtail his business. As it stands, I should imagine that the proportion of women who would like larger breasts who actually get implants is rather small, as the procedure is painful and invasive. This proportion would probably rise with this new technique, and as I think people would still want to have qualified surgeons do this new procedure for them, it could be quite a boon for his profession.

There was a similar story regarding a team of women doctors moving a man's cognitive abilities from his...cough, southern region, where the women doctors say they reside, and moving them north into his head to make him smarter and less prone to bouts of mindless horniness.

However, upon completion of a series of tests on male volunteers, the doctors found that the increase in intelligence in the majority of men was very slight whereas the loss due south was considered unacceptable to the majority of women doctors.
