Hi fellas. While staff deals with the bad thread, feel free to spam here instead, so the offending thread gets no publicity - or headline space on the forum listings.

You guys can help, if you like.
The goal: Move the bad thread off page 1 of the E.Hall
How: find a thread below the bad one, and respond. If all you can think of is "spam", that's OK. Just apologize in your post.
Let's show this guy that we are united in maintaining a decent place here.

Well done Kukri, you have made it.
Gracias GdelaVelI. Was a bit of work (since I don't Mod here), but worthwhile, I think. E-Hall staff will dispose of the problem soon, I'm sure.
Meanwhile: what is your favourite totalwar game?
Shame that BKS and MithCamelsDir are away from the forums.
I hope this situation wont happen again, or we will have to phone Tosa :beam:

Well, all games have their merits. I'm personally inclined to go with Rome, since it's my favorite time period of the lot. How 'bout you guys?
Great thread Kukri.
I love Medieval 2, I prefer the Medieval setting and the new graphics features, armour upgrades etc are just great. Rome was nice, but the improved graphics alone didn't make the setting that much better for me.
Medieval 2 has a lot more variety, bloom(I really like that as long as it's not overdone), more interesting units and of course a Medieval setting which I like a lot.:2thumbsup:

Rome, I love the era.
I've yet to try MTW2 though - I'll waiting a year or 2, by then it'll be available in a bundle and I might have a decent PC :wall:

To be honest Shieldmaiden, I dont think I can go on playing MTW2 knowing you havent had the privilege yourself.
So flirting and spam in one post ! :7jester:
MTW because I can mod it. ~D
Although Rome was sweet because I didn't have to buy it, a friend gave his to me, free stuff is always better.

Hey, whats Latin for Spam?
What were you trying to move off the first page Kukri?

Spam in latin? Wow, that's a difficult one...
I'd say "spamus, spami". But "quisquiliae" or "purgamentum" would work too, meaning wise (quisquiliae and purgamentum translate into "thrash, garbage, rubbish, filth", so considering the nature of spam, it would be okay).
a shamefully thread, which was directed at the honorable mod team.
It must be gone now. I see Kukri did a number on the Entrance Hall though.
Warmaster Horus
07-11-2007, 17:33
That's the reason.
Kukri took the matter in his own hands, by trying to move the thread back a page, so noone would see it immediately.
Of course, it's kind of...weird to see "Last Post by Kukrikhan" every thread, with a few minutes' interval.
It's not everyday a mod tells you to spam. I missed it. :shame:

MTW all the way! I like how the risk map is handled, and some of the mods are simply splendid.
Warmaster Horus
07-11-2007, 19:18
Certainly the AI handled the risk map better than the RTW/M2 version, but I must say I couldn't go back to MTW because of the battles.
I've gotten used to seeing my guys with extensive detail from really up close fighting it out with my enemies...

I much prefer the Risk style too, but I find RTW much easier to play, the Tech Tree, General traits, Unit hierarchy, and yes pretty Romans, etc.
On a different note, I'm convinced the next TW has to have female Generals in it. And a Faction called Spammia.

Maybe an expansion for M2 centered around the Viking expansion throughout Europe. Instead of becoming princesses, daughters of named characters who show a potential for fighting can become shieldmaidens.

I'm thinking of people like Boudicca, Joan d'Arc, Isabella of Lorraine, etc.
Warmaster Horus
07-11-2007, 21:15
Boudica may be slightly too early for the Medieval era, considering her rebellion was against the Romans in Britain.
I agree about the rest, though.

I'm thinking of people like Boudicca, Joan d'Arc, Isabella of Lorraine, etc.The famous Joan d'Arc was in the older M:TW as a "hero" general - basically a historical general who was scripted to appear at a certain date. A very interesting woman to play with, I can tell you - especially since she started with such an almighty command rating. If, when I gained her, she hadn't have died in her second epic battle against the English, she probably could have become something ever better than she already was. Such a shame she emerged in a unit of peasants.
Warmaster Horus
07-11-2007, 21:24
Yeah, but someone said once "While playing Total War, you can rewrite History, so making scripted events is kind of nonsensical."
Of course, a campaign centered around the 100 years war with a Joan of Arc scripted event would be nice.
Omanes Alexandrapolites
07-11-2007, 21:41
I understand what you mean Warmaster Horus. However, if the game was to develop some way of measuring more detailed and precise conditions for scripted generals to appear, then perhaps it could work to a more realistic and satisfactory standard.

I must get MTW working on my PC :wall: (horrible battle lag, posted in the Apothecary).
Boudica may be slightly too early for the Medieval era, considering her rebellion was against the Romans in Britain.
Yep, I meant TW as a series. I wish we'd seen more scripted extras in Rome (Hannibal springs to mind) though it ends a little early for Boudicca's rebellion of 60AD-ish.
Yeah, but someone said once "While playing Total War, you can rewrite History, so making scripted events is kind of nonsensical."
True, could have scripted stuff triggered only if certain conditions are met though, change history enough and it never happens :dizzy2:
I just think it adds to the games - I love RTW, but it doesn't feel that historical compared to STW and MTW.

1. Flanders was a very rich region during Medieval times. English wool was imported and transformed into wonderful tapestries.
2. They destroyed a very powerful French army (golden spurs) using "town militia"
3. The fist major trade routes in Europe during the Middle ages were between the Italian city states and Flanders.
4. They have very good beer.
5. En aangezien we hier ook in andere talen moeten communiceren Belgen (Flamingen) zijn soms net mensen.
4. They have very good beer.
