upgrading??

i am worried that with the increased deatail of MTW , and larger scale maps/battles that my pc will not be able to hack the pace http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
I have a:

Pentium 2 mmx
128mb RAM
32 bit geforce 2 graphics ( is it BIT http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif )
8 gb hard drive

I would just like any suggestions as to whether upgrading my pc will give the significant changes i require or whether it would be more cost effective in the long run to buy a new pc.. obviously money is a key factor but with summer here i should be able to work off the money to get a PC. Thx for suggestions guys

The graph card and RAM are alright, but the processor is worrying. I had a similar system few weeks ago...Shogun runs OK but upgrade will be necessary for sure.

Pentium 2's don't go more than 333 Mhz I think which is quite poor. Upgrade the processor, you'll need a new motherboard too...because newer motherboards only accept DDR Ram...older RAM doesn't "physically" fit in the RAM slots.

yeh, a P111 five hundred is very cheap nowerdays.
if u upgrade the motherboard, then additional ram will help a lot(I know from expierance) with medieval, of tht Im sure.

What graphics card should I get then. Because currently im on an ATI-RAGE and its sh*t because its great for 2D but not 3D.

Any ideas...I have limited money, up to £100

a geforce two tnt riva tnt costs about £30(I think) and is 32mb and is a very good card, for eighty pouns and a bit less u can get a geforce 2 which is 64 mb and is superb, it will last a good while too.

So u think a new processor and upgraging to say 256 ddr RAM (and motherboard), and probably more hard drive will do the job?? any general prices, esp for processors would be appreciated guys.. thx again http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Toda, at www.novatech.com (http://www.novatech.com) they offered a GeForce 3 ti200 for less than 100 Pound a few weeks ago. Can't get you the direct link now because I can't connect to the website. Search for video cards, list them all and you should find it there. They were selling them like mad though, so better look fast.

They also have the Geforce 4 MX at 70 or 80 pound or so, but I don't like it that much, not as much as the 3 ti200 anyway.

Don't base any hardware decision on the speed of the Jaffa battle in the demo-- it seems that it has a 'bug' of some kind that slows it down.
