Is there a way to make the princess from the campaign map turn up not only on the battle map as a general unit, inspiring the troops etc... I see that battlefield assassins can do this as well as appearing on the campaign map. Other characters such as princesses and bishops should be able to do the same.

but also have
a) the ability to raise armies (like a prince/general)
b) to have negative loyalty effects when in enemy provinces
c) all of the above but retain her diplomatic status (in the case of the princess)

I had the idea since princesses in reality often had huge personal guard reinues with them. In the game they get assasinated pretty easy, without much use to the faction.

Uh battlefield assassins are regular units aren't they? They can't, like, assassinate.
Except for named characters I don't think this is possible.

Can't they?
Doh
I just meant there was an idea there with battlefield assassins...
For example, If general units exist on the battlefield and on the campaign map is it hardcoded that say a bishop cannot change his in-game abilities to resemble a general?
I assume that a character cannot be modded to be both a bishop and a general- if a general were modded to act in the game like a bishop he will still be prone to attacks on the camp map like any military unit.
I just thought it was an interesting angle for discussion on the subject...

I remember seeing a list of agent/general abilities in the descr_skeleton.txt the other day (which doesn't do anything when modified btw) but if you can track it down using the vars there you probably could be on something.

Generals on the battlemap are controlled by the "generals_unit" attribute in the descr_unit file. Although there is more to it, as sometimes you see rebels with a named general (who has a portrait + traits + ages normally) in charge of say a horse archer regiment.
