How this one slipped by the orgahs is beyond me, but better late than never.

Our latest:

Guess the RED threat is back.

Another perspective of the event:

Suppose it was inevitable. Next, a memorial for all extinct life forms that once were, but are no more.

Well, it's undeniable that there were a huge number of victims of communism, but this is a bizarre place for a memorial. It seems like "mwaha, we won the cold war!" gloating, really. Which is probably justified, but a bit vulgar nonetheless.

Perhaps they can do a memorial to all the victims of bloody stupid politicians .
Their website is funny though , a moral blind spot ????? what sort of muppets are they aiming at , really really thick ones .
But hey you gotta admire their sheer hypocracy when it comes to killing people for political ideals .:laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4:

How about twin memorials to the deaths of morality and civic duty in Washington. It could be a statue of an open Bible whose pages are $100 bills.

Whoa: a career as a political cartoonist beckons, Greg.

You're in fine form tonight with this and the giant squid trailer pastiche.

Soooooo... the Holocaust gets a morbid museum that no one wants to visit, and the lives lost to Communism get a shallow, patriotic slap on the back? :inquisitive:

Why not just make another museum for the Commie stuff and leave it at that?

They wouldn't have the money for that. Though the Holocaust museum is very... not good, but both well done and pretty moving.

Cheers to Reagan's victory and all that crap. God bless USA blah blah blah. And the real victims in the modern world continue to be ignored because honoring dead people with cheap shots is cheaper than saving actually lives.

Goddamn neocons. They ought to be sent to the gulags for some reeducation :/

Its no surprise that the left would try their hardest to downplay the horror that communism was and is in this world...

Unnecessary? Yep. But thats what makes Washington such and interesting place. Unnecessary memorials. :beam:

Its no surprise that the left would try their hardest to downplay the horror that communism was and is in this world...Because saying a meaningless jingoistic gesture is a meaningless jingoistic gesture is, you know, excusing the crimes of the Bolsheviks... :dizzy2:

communism has never caused any terror in the world simply because there as never been any country on this planet that had a communist government (and I don´t even think it would be possible) what you have had over the years are a bunch of dictatorships that call them selfs "communist".........

why not have a memorial for all victims of dictatorship?....it covers everyone....

Then communism itself is the victim and should have its own memorial. I see a large granite loaf of bread which will surely draw a long line of people.

This is all well and good. You could even say there has never been a true, utopian Republic - but for all intents and purposes Soviet Russia was a communist nation. Stalin drug them into in kicking and screaming.

A common trap... After the revolution, Lenin proclaimed himself a communist, his party communists, and his state a communist state to announce that had succeeded, gain supporters and anger his enemies(he called himself Bolshevik/socialist up to that point). Those socialists who didn't agree with him(which was by far the majority) didn't call themselves communists. Lenin wanted to export his version, calling himself a communist instead of a socialist was a symbol.

So, a communist is one who agrees with Lenin on how to do a revolution, how to keep it and how to build a state.

There are a lot of key differences between a Leninist and a more general Marxist, for example Lenin never wanted factories(the means of production) to be owned by the workers of that factory, but rather by the workers through the revolutionary state(though whether he wanted to hand over that control as the revolution ended is unknown, as he died before his state got a really strong position...).
