Long story short, a friend sent me a picture of this yesterday, claiming it was real. He didn't know what it was from, and I was very skeptical and suspected a photoshop hoax. 10 minutes of searching and I found the above. Talk about some suspension and tire damage if you ran into that! It just looks like a big giant door straight to hell if you ask me. Thought ya'll might enjoy that.

Yes, it was in the news some time ago. I couldn't believe at first either.

The sinkhole emitted foul odors, loud noises and tremors.
Apparently these holes are made by SPACE SLUGS!

I think Duke John is right, otherwise I can't see how this swallowed a dozen homes if it's diameter is that of about two or maybe three homes.

Hehe, nice way to claim insurance: "My whole house... s, all my houses dissappeared! 12 of them, sure of that."

From what i can tell this happened in a Guatemalan slum, so it isn't much of a surprise if there were a dozen homes swallowed up.

And as for Whacker's description of it being a doorway to hell....who knows?

Man, that'll really ruin your axles eh?

You can't help but think a giant alien tripod is about to emerge from the hole and wreak genocidal destruction on the surrounding area...

Brilliant post here. Someone must do this, soon, and report back with results!

Don't forget; the deeds were in the safe, the safe was enclosed with concrete and steel, the whole thing was enmeshed with titanium, and patrolled by man eating Dobermans (no, not from Bilko :beam: )......

Unfortunately.......

Looking on the bright side. With the "excavation" already done, the owner can now build one heck of a gameroom in the basement, 30 stories of it!
