Well I decided to make a short video with one of my battles that I played with the Romani faction. This (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2p-g0XMTlY) is the product of my boredom and too much time on my hands. Considering that this is the first time I have made and edit a video, and how much I suck at creative writing, it isn't all that bad.

Though I would share the fruits of my boredom with you all and definitely looking forward to the next installment of my addiction. :2thumbsup:

How can you be bored? How can you have too much time on your hands? Why you?

If you forget about that last question, the answer to the other two is "you can't". Simply because you have the great, the ultimate, the great, the super, the great, the genial Europa Barbarorum!

Bored? Try a new faction!
Not much to do? Try a new faction, and go slaughter your neighbors! Then realize that you should have taken more time, because now you have no more money!

This advertisement for the mod Europa Barbarorum was neither prepared by, nor supported by the Europa Barbarorum team. It should, however, convey the general sense of what such an advertisement would convey.

I'll check the video tomorrow, and give feedback. I mean, real feedback.

I think the idea of making some videos for the factions would be great, movies would add more icing on the EB cake.

Pretty cool Gaias. I liked the wipes and angles. There wasn't much motion though, which is usually nice (panning down lines or such).

It's a shame we still don't have anyone willing to make culture intro videos for campaigns for us. They may not be as exciting as individual battle videos, but thousands of people would see your work if it was good enough and followed some basic ideas we'd like to have represented in them.

Well I am definitely not bored with EB, just play it too damn much that I need a break and try something else. I tried several times to do an AAR (not on Romans) but just lack the creative writing to make it interesting enough. Figured I would try a different approach and have a live action film with a few commentaries thrown in.

@Teleklos Archelaou
I tried to create some stylish camera panning and turning, but everything I did just turned out tacky. It looks great but it happens to be harder than looks and to make it look natural. Besides, the setup for movement in RTW isn't ideal to have that kind of precision that is need for such camera movement.

I went with something simple for my first attempt at making a game movie. When I get more experience and time down the road I will be trying different styles of video capture and camera angles/movement. Wish you could save your battles that you have in the campaign as replays. Would make something like this alot easier to make and control.

It was a good enough movie, and I enjoyed watching it.

A word of advice is to make the text screen's last just a tad longer. I'm a quick reader, but even I had trouble reading everything before the words went off screen.

Argh! I would love to make EB vidoes, but my comp is too damn slow. It cant handle Fraps and EB, with huge settnings, at the same time. :furious3:

I love editing and I have done tons of films with my friends, our last one was supposed to be in this big film festival in sweden, but we were too late and missed it. :furious3:

Ive tried many times to make rome - total war vids - I have alot of ideas in my head, but my comp is simply too slow. I hate fraps.

BTW: What did you use to capture this footage? And great vid by the way. It could use some polishing, but its a great start. Looking forward to more(?) future work.

There's a small error: The text saying the Epirote officer dies a heroic death appears twice, and only fits the first time. I'd reduce the volume of the music too, I think. But you're right, it's not bad at all.

Gah. That's too bad. We'd love to have someone with good experience and a real interest in EB help us with this sort of thing.

Well only time will allow me to become better at making these videos. I do plan to make more of these kind of short films but I will be using custom battle replays with the moviecam command for RTW. Unless of course that doesn't work for modified versions of RTW. Does it?

Actually I am using fraps as it isn't a bad program, its just eats up alot of resources when it is capturing frames. Would like to know if their was another program that was less gpu/cpu intensive (if their is one).

This video was rather just a test of what if I had anykind of eye and skill for it. I do plan to make more of these just have to do some more research on techniques of movie making. Maybe find some program that is alittle more advance than windows movie maker, if that would make a difference in quality that is.
