When I choose a faction, and press the "Start the Campaign" button, the loadingscreen appears for a second or two, then disappears (the screen turns black). The loading-bar keeps moving though, but when it has reached the right, the game shuts down (without any error-messages). The mod was installed recently.

You could try reinstalling everything, you may have the incorrect RTW version or a corrupt install...

How do I know if the install is corrupt?

That's the beauty of it... you don't.

First thing to do: check if you've got any settings higher than strictly neccesary: for example you could try running the campaign without sheadows, without high resolution (try 640*480), without higher colordepths (try 16bit). The point of this is to find out if the problem lies with your PC or EB build. Then, if you've got it working you can start adding more and more GFX flavour to it; if you didn't get it sorted out:

You could check the Install Guide, and look for the "MD5 Checksum" bit - use the hyperlink for further information. Then you can at least check if your download is corrupted. However, a corrupted install is the thing we blame all weird errors that happen with just one or a few individuals and that can't be explained - weird script errors, such as missing lines etc.

You could run normal RTW (Vanilla) and go to Options. Watch for a version number - it must be 1.5 or EB will not work. In that case uninstall EB; and patch RTW to 1.5. Then install EB again.

If Vanilla said it was 1.5, then you should just try to reinstall EB 0.81aV2 and if the problem persists, you could post your PC specs. There are multiple ways to obtain the figures, one way is to hit start > run > type: dxdiag > press enter > read the various pages with system data. Important: RAM, GFX card; CPU speed (and if it is a dual core or not). In that order.

Am I supposed to replace the original "data" and "preferences" folders with the ones of EB? I've tried that, but it didn't work too well.

The problem in whole has nothing to do with patches (I got V 1.5) nor with video-settings, it seems.

No, you shouldn't replace EB\data with data in your RTW file folder. Now, it 'simply' seems as if uninstalling EB -> reinstalling EB -> keeping fingers crossed when trying, is the only solution.

I made it work (by removing the map.rwm file)... Huzzah!!!

 I pressed Alt+Tab to temporarly go back to desktop and write the above post. When I clicked on the game (to go back to playing) the game shut down, and now it seems I got my "old problem" back again :( Looks like I'll need to reinstall and try again :P

I need technical help with the installation of Rome Total War Europa Barbarorum.
When I complete the installation of Europa, it says cannot find file: Rome:TW.exe. Help?

That hardly sounds like an EB problem. Alt-Tabbing causing a CTD is not a problem I've ever seen anyone report anywhere.

You have installed EB to the incorrect directory. The default install path in the installer doesn't go to the right place for everyone. Note the file that vanilla RTW is in. Uninstall EB (this may seem to freeze, give it time), then reinstall EB. When it asks where to install it to, put in the location of RTW on your system. The most common paths are:

"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\"
"C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\" and
"C:\Program Files\SEGA\Rome - Total War\"

Oh, and please note that "Most Common" is not equal to "Your path, guaranteed". First thing to do would be to check where you installed your copy of RTW to.

Quite a few people seem to mix that bit up, so I though better to remind in case you'd do the same... No? ~;)

Also: there's a specific thread which deals with exactly this kind of issues, in case you hadn't noticed.

I have installed and uninstalled the Barbarorum file in two Rome locations. Activision folder, and the creative assembly folder. Both failed to locate the file Rome:TW.exe.

Well, first of all where did you install your version of RTW 1.5 to? When you retrieved that bit of information, make sure that you install EB to the exact same location. Do not think that something may or may not make a difference, experience has learned quite a few others otherwise. It's been just that plain simple with other people: if the shortcut can't find the RTW.exe, then you've installed EB to the wrong folder.

Make sure to have uninstalled your previous EB installs before attempting to reinstall EB though.

To easily find out where to install, go to your desktop and right click on the vanilla desktop icon. Choose Properties. Look at the 'Start In' box. Take that contents of that box (without the quotes) and put it into the EB installer. That should install EB to your correct place.

This is sorta related to the op problem, i have rtw eb mod, and has played great and worked yesterday, but when i started it up now, it says cant locate the disk/ insert the correct one. what could be the problem?

I don't know but it sounds hardware-ish: try to insert the RTW disc and see if Explorer can find it? (Accessing your CD/DVD drive...)

Use my computer/search function/right click the shortcut/whatever you prefer and find out where your install actually is rather than guessing. When you have found it, the installer needs to point so that the last folder is where the file RomeTW.exe is located. This is usually Rome - Total War rather than the activision or CA folders with a default install, but again actually check rather than guess (mine is C:\Games\RTW\ for example, nothing like the usual defaults).
Cheers

EDIT
Oops sorry MAA missed your post there...

Dwa, please create your own help thread. As you can see, you've already confused people, who are answering the original problem.
