reacties ?
sorry, will translate later when I've had some sleep..

14 more to go, ok I said that it wasn't historicly correct that they chose Friesland as the main province of The Netherlands, instead they should've chosen Groningen or Utrecht (dont try to pronounce it if you speak English). http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif.

um sorry but the province (gewest) groningen did not exist back then, the city groningen was owned by the bishop? of utrecht by the way, Friesland however was very independant
the counts of Holland kept trying to conquer it but failed, couldnt swim:-).
Mithrandir
07-19-2002, 21:18
it wasn't the biggest "gewest" back then.
I shall check my ancient lore.

Groningen kicks ass. I spent 3 weeks in Groningen and it was really ace. Not that it helps, just thought I'd say - much cooler that Amsterdam. Can't handle those trains though that split in two.

Maybe this is off topic but i heard that in the not too distant past the Low Countries lost 1/3rd of their soil through floods. Wouldn't this mean that it is historically questionable to use the present shoreline on the strategic map?
(I'm only joking of course)

Holland stond toch meestal onder politieke controle van de Graaf van Vlaanderen en zal in het spel waarschijnlijk ook bij de provincie vlaanderen horen, Friesland lijkt mij logischer.
Basically: the southern half of the current netherlands usually was under Flemish (political) control so Friesland seems logical to me

And that's a good thing! Dutch is a very important language, there at least...uhm...errr...2 countries in the world that have it as an official language (maybe the old dutch colonies also?).
Anyways, if everybody on this planet spoke Dutch then there would be no problem as to communication! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Apartheid is internationally known, tis a Dutch word...(mostly known through the Afrikaner Language, which derived from the Dutch language since the Kaap was also a colonie, Suriname speaks Dutch as a native language as well and parts of indonesia as well (not native, but they speak it).

Bo-sama thats Dutch Elm Disease. Commonly found on trees, but can also be found on people of non-dutch origins.
It causes them to drink as much alcohol as possible then run around big cities with no clothes on screaming their love for Holland and the dutch language.

Hmm.. It is actually a bit scary, I can understand some of what they writes, I think it is because I know danish (of course), german and french, dutch is one big mixed combination!
The problem would be smaller if people would learn danish instead of dutch http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif
Kan I se om der er nogen forskel på dette, og så Hollandsk? Ligner de to sprog meget hinanden? det er svært for mig, en dansker, at bedømme, jeg synes der er STOR forskel!
---- Translation ----
Can you see if the two languages, danish or dutch, are the same to you? Does the two languages look very similar? it is difficult for me, a dane, to judge, I think the difference is HUGE!
the Count of Flanders

Yep, there's a big difference. I hardly understood a word in that. Dutch is very similar to german, but not just a mixture of german and danish.
