View Full Version : Request - Pope giving Items?
Just a quick one here fella's (and ladies if your out there). I searched the forums and only got the items list and how they are obtained from attacking certain cities.
I swear I read somewhere (the manual maybe :idea2: ) that the Pope does give items occasionally for completing major missions.
So:
1. Whats an example of a major papal mission?
2. Has he given you items? (if yes which ones)
3. Can you confirm in the files that this feature exsists? (I am at work and not savvy with files anyway).
Thanks,
All input welcome.

I haven't gotten an item, but I have gotten the Pope's enforcer trait. I believe the trait has a 100% chance, but the items only have a small chance of appearing.
The mission I got was to give back rome after he had lost it. Some other faction took rome, I declared a crusade on rome, takes it, then the next turn the pope asks if he can have it back. I accept and get the trait.

I wonder too, anyone seen items?
Cash sure, but not items... And while on the topic of items, I'd like to see more of them ingame... as it is now, followers are so much more common than items, I'd like the ratio to be more like 50/50, forward jedi general!

Something that I'm working on is breaking out the Ancillaries and Traits a bit. If it is something you can transfere it should be an Ancillary. If you can't transfer it, it would be a trait.
This way we can build our own "Super Generals" if we want, or just spread the wealth and keep some cool stuff when an old general is about to die.

Well according to that trigger taken from the export desr ancillaries, the pope does give items when you give rome back but as you can see, the chance is only a meager 5%. Better to get your generals on crusades. The chances are 30%. If not on crusade, then its just 10%
Heres a list of rare items and the settlements you can get them from.

So as I read your responses, the Pope does infact have the ability to give items.
In all honesty I've never had the mission to give him back Rome, and cant recall any "major" mission from him either so I was curious. I've gotten items on crusade before and its a nice little feature of the game.
I dont think that the Pope should hand out items easily, but giving him back Rome should garnish a high % of getting one.
Taking back Rome from an infidel and reestablishing the Pope to the vatican should be a major event IMHO, and certainly worthy of an item (if your piety is high, maybe that could be a contributing factor the the likelyhood?)
