View Full Version : assasinate your own Family members?
Just wondering is there some way to do that? It would be cool and for me also very useful (I hate some of those assholes)

Try charging them into spears, or put them on a crappy ship and send it into pirate territory.

If I'm not mistaken, alt-right clicking your assassins on them works as well.

:jawdrop: Hey, I'm playing RTW for two years and did not know that!
Wow, I had no idea. Assassinate Family members was possible in MTW but I'd thought it was gone from RTW engine :balloon2:

know i need toknow that!!!!!!!!!!
About that alt + right click - Does it work for you guys? Because it doesn't work for me.
And thanks for that advice Teleklos - I already use the shitty boat tactic, but the other option usually doesnt work for me either. I have propably chicky (and at the same time tough) family members, because very often when I try to make a suicide attack on speers of some rebels my family member survives (Usually there is him and lets say 3 or 5 of his bodyguards left after some fighting and at that moment he craps his pants and runs away)

You could make sure that your general is surrounded by enemies so that he's got less chance of getting out alive. Also, you could gather all your generals, send them deep into enemy territory so that if you lose the battle the army will be automatically destroyed (since there's no allied territory to retreat to after defeat).

I will make a general autocalc against an enemy army and when he loses, I use the 'character_reset' cheat to have him fight them again. I do that until they kill him. But I will usually give him a small army so that he takes some of the enemy with him. One time I had a guy kill off several armies much larger than his while I was trying to do this...
But I don't usually kill my bad generals, I just give them bad towns to run or use them as heavy cavalry for a good general.

im not sure yet, but im messing around in the descr_cursor_actions.txt file, and it looks like, were one to understand all that is being said, one can make an assassin have one's own family members targetable for assassination...but the file is rather confusing, and maybe someone that understands this kind of thing could find a way to make it possible...
as for me, im back to seeing if i can make my game go into a crazy error by messing with this file :book:

Almost there...

Whenever I tell my assassin to carry out his duty, it makes him move to the army, instead of assassinating him...I just hope this isnt a big waste of time, that this file I'm modifying really can help my assassin out.
That would be sweet, Megas. If you will manage to edit that file somehow. And allow the possibility of assasinating your own family members. (It could be usefull for lets say Rome to role-play all those nasty machinations amongst various families.

indeed...so far, ive only managed to get my own diplomats assassinated....no luck on my family members so far
ive never tried, but im pretty sure one couldnt kill one's own diplo's before...
I don't think it will work, as I imagine that the action that the assassin will perform, regardless of cursor, is moving into an army. Unfortunately. Check descr_characters to see the actions, but I think their hardcoded.

Apparently, you're right Foot. It doesn't want to agree with my line of thinking...alas, I give up!
Why CA would hardcode that, is beyond me.
Too bad you couldn't get this to work. In my current KH campaign I've got an Athenian who Has Dull/Uncharismatic/Langurous, Lazy, A drunkard Along with A bunch of traits that make the people hate him. And a Spartan who also has Dull/Uncharismatic/Langurous, a coward, and is sickly and unfertile.
Send them to your prison colony in Malta or another "uninhabited" (that is, without a settlement) little island and let him rot.

I have never had a general that caused such problems where I had to assassinate him. Maybe because I am pretty picky in who I chose to marry my daughters. I am not saying that it will nevery happen, it just has not happened in 2 to 3 years of playing RTW & EB.
By default you can assassinate your own agents (diplomats, spies, assassins). The funny thing is, the assassin can try assassinating himself, but my moron one hasn't succeeded yet.
@fatsweets: The ability to assassinate your own FM's would do wonders for roleplaying and AAR's.

Especially for those factions that suffer(ed) from internal divides. The joys of being related to a Ptolemaic or Seleukid heir ...

Killing their relatives was often just a necessity for the royal inheritors. Otherwise they would have killed them. I agree that AARs would get much better with the option to kill relatives.
