Multiplayer Custom Generals
Do you think that the MP battles will involve a "build a general" phase where you would choose from a number of server-specified "RPG Points", therefore selecting the attributes of Piety, Dread, Command, Loyalty and Acumen for your General before battle. Maybe you also could choose a vice, a virtue, and a face portrait. This also might have to be done with all of your unit commanders too, which could take a while, but the sheer effect of these would make for some extremely entertaining battles. Examples:
High Piety: Religious Fanatics fight like mad with increased morale
High Dread: Your peasants fight hard, the enemy peasants run away screaming.
High Command: The Knights Templar listen for once
High Loyalty: Your General doesnt run away
High Acumen: What the hell is Acumen anyway
Whatever... Do you think that this will be featured in MP? It would really help the chemistry of my army.
Yeah, I can understand the great potential of such a feature. It would make the game deeper, but at the same time that much harder to balance.
Acumen is the generals abilities within money producing fields, so that one could be excluded or give the player more money to spend. What do I know.
The Knights Templar were in fact very controlled in their behavior, it was the normal knights that were the impetuous units. I thought you knew this from all of our long talks over at the com.
It would be interesting to see this introduced but it is one of those things hard to balance. Sort of like how musketeers rule over a cav charge.

I was thinking about this too, but I doubt it will be in multiplayer. It wouldn't make a whole lot of sense, at least for me, because you're choosing the traits. Who is gonna choose bad traits? Besides, in SP you get most of the battle traits by what you've actually done in past battles, so just to assign vices and virtues wouldn't have much if any significance. If there were some way to keep our own personal generals online, and use them from battle to battle, then this would be a great feature. But that too would prob. be too hard to implement for a while at the least.

Would be fun I think but not in MP battles. I'd rather see more options ingame (troopmovement, being able to set forrests on fire, other formations for troops, stronger influence of the terain) and choosing ur armies like in old STW; fewer troops and only being able to change their honour. This would emphasize battleskills instead of choosing troops. Also hope that mapdesigners would try to make their maps (edge)(corner)camperproof. This can be done like mage suggested: make train near the edges somewhat lower than in the center.

In MP you call the shots all theses extra add ons, upgrades etc are just a pain. I prefer the old STW approach honour upgrades and nothing else. Then at least the battle is interesting and strategy plays a part rather than playing stats to work out super units.

There should be a trade-off between chosing good traits. For example, you can have x V&V points that you can spend on these traits. So, you have to chose between high dread or high command abilities, etc.

Nobunaga0611, IMO this is a very, good idea http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif If it is possible to keep track of the honur points, it should be possible to keep track of the win/loss, killed/lost/captured ratios of a given player , + whether he decided to kill the captured men or not. Based on these ratios you can calculate the dread, piety, command, etc points of a general just as in SP.
