I need help involving some missing files

I am not sure where to post this but I feel this question has been needed to be answered for a long time now. I just want to know what is wrong and how to fix it myself. Anyway here it goes. I got my Medieval two Total War disk when it first came out in the states. However when I got to looking for the files that edit units and buildings I could find nothing. When playing the game however it works perfectly fine with little error. I just want to know how to get my building_strat and unit_strat files back so I can edit them.

By the way this is an unrelated question but where can I find the patch for M2TW? Is it possibly for someone to post a link to the page the patch is on please?

I think you need the unpacker for that. It's furnished with the 1.1 patch. Once you've got it, run the unpacker, and voila!

As for the patch, just check their official site.
