Is there anywhere I can view a list of words I can't say?

Well, I think they are automatically censored, so just try to type something you think is vulgar, and voila.

Also, be logical. I don't think a word starting by F with 4 letters is going to be accepted.

Well, I think they are automatically censored, so just try to type something you think is vulgar, and voila. As far as I know, the Org doesn't automatically censor "harsh" words nor is there a specific list of unmentionables. The mods will usually take action though. If it's just a slip or two they won't really warn you but they will edit your post with: :daisy:

Common sense works most of the time, really.

I knew about the edit, but I read something in the FAQ about censored words...

Why have some of the words in my post been blanked?
Certain words may have been censored by the administrator. If your posts contain any censored words, they will be blanked-out like this: #####.

The same words are censored for all users, and censoring is done by a computer simply searching and replacing words. It is in no way 'intelligent'.

This is the official list of banned words:

*****
** ******* ******
******
***
*** ***
********** ******* * * ********
****
**** ***
*************

and of course

*** *** **************! (Gasp!)

Hope this helps.

I think I recognize a few. Have you entered them in alphabetical order?

Censored words include:
****
:daisy:
:elephant:
####

(the general policy is that if you wouldn't put it in a report to your boss, don't post it here ~;))

You can get your message across quite clearly without needing to resort to swearing.

Also, if you plan on posting in the Guides forums, "rape" is another word that is banned, whereas it is (somewhat) tolerated elsewhere.

I said "shit", I don't think "shit" should be banned.

I said "shit", I don't think "shit" should be banned.
It is, however ~;)

Again, would you write a report to the boss beginning with "Oh, :elephant:, our competitors are beating us again"? :grin2:

Depends what kind of boss he is.

Hi Xehh II,
I understand you plea, although I have to agree with other members. As they have pointed out, one's views can be placed across very easily without swearing or using any other form of profanity or foul language. If you feel the need you can easily censor it or replace the wording with a randomly selected phrase. I'm sorry to disagree, yet I feel it is not necessary. Sorry.

"Shit" is not foul langauge! I say it, all my friends say it, my Mum and Dad say it, even my grandparants say it.

In common usage or not, the issue is whether it needs to be said; and that, as Omanes and Kekvit pointed out, it does not.

"...and then I had consensual intercourse with the Byzantine empire in a big battle after which they surrendered..." :sweatdrop:

Fine, I give up, I won't say it any more then.

That's why I call it bullpoo ~D

For me "poo" isn't something offensive. Same as:
"Female genital"
"Bounchy bounchy"
And even:
"Damned you up there"

You can try getting creative. In high school, our teacher taught us how to use the periodic table of elements to say things. So, we got creative and wrote this phrase on all of our text book covers:

Fluoride
Uranium
Carbon
Potassium

Yttrium
Oxygen
Uranium

Potassium always throws people off but it is a K on the table. :laugh4:

You could always take a lesson from Tourettes Guy and shout "BOB SAGET!" whenever you want to swear. :tongueg:

No, I'm serious
