Playing with the Custom Campaign Mod, I found that I wanted to try something new so I pick to play as the REBELS. To make this work at all you have to cheat for a lot of money at start because if you don't, you will run out without building really anything.

Well, what changes is the following

Diplomacy is meaningless, not only can you not recruit diplomats but even if you could it wouldn't matter because you are at a state of permiwar with everyone.

You start off with over 50 territories.

You can finally take on all of the nations you normally would have to migrate to take on (Timurids and Aztecs) easily.

Things like Religion, Excommunication, Random Rebellions, Pirates, Heretics, and some other things that I am forgetting but will add later are no longer a problem and when others have problems with these, it benefits you.

No need to worry about "Relations" anymore.

You can control Heretics and its your religion. Its kinda funny how you can build churches but your religion is always around -90 on the summary screen.

Generals are very hard to come by so when you get one you tend to protect him more so you can buy mercenaries with him.

One of my favorites on this list: Seiges, you are always being sieged and attacked and will have to face off against sieges from everyone. I just wish that I had Longbowmen.

Unlike the Aztecs, you can build complex buildings that help with community happiness as well as build order for troops. You can create different buildings in different areas. For instance, I built the aztecs temple AND a racetrack in Spain.

Troops are the same as buildings, although I have yet to see or build a longbowmen in my lineup, time will tell if I could build longbowmen here and Panzerphants over there.

Since I did cheat moneywise, I cannot comment on the financial aspect of this time.

You do not need to waste troops on garrisons unless your afraid of an attack from a neighbor.

------------------------------------

My game so far, you start off with territories EVERYWHERE but they aren't aligned in any way yet. My first turn I studied the map and thought if I could take over Scotland, Russia, the Middle East and the Danes with the rebels in that area, I would be well set off for a blitz and hold campaign. Unfortunately, I nearly broke my teeth in Scotland. They hold off EVERYTHING I throw at them and I only got Edinburge when I transported troops from after I finished off the Danes but they still have a big stack in York.

The Danes, as you have read earlier, were a pretty easy fight, I used all the troops that I could find in the areas in the north as well as a few in the east and south and converged onto their homeland. The fight wasn't that hard and I was expecting a lot worst after my disaster in the British Asles.

After which around turn 7, France went on an all out to take the territories that I have took troops from to help out with the Danes conflict so I used what I had left there and transported them to take on England in their home island. So far, that going great.

My war against Russia ended on turn 8 but they did hurt me in the east, Russia is gone as well.

Egypt on the other hand has been a complete pushover and should be finished up within the next two turns.

Will post pictures later, I would suggest trying this.

I am trying like hell to be able to recruit something other than militia but so far its only turn 8 and peasants, militia and simple archers is all I can muster at this time.

Interesting idea :laugh4:

Can you make your own cities rebel?

Too early in the game, I am only on turn 8 but so far I don't think so because I have a few cities with the red face in them under city happiness. On a plus though, if you could it would only help you by giving you probably better troops than what you have at the time.

After playing the aztecs I was shocked to see that I got a guild offer for Explorers and I took it, yet to see any other guilds offered at this time. I would post screenshots but to do so I would have to reopen the game and thats just too much work right now.

---------------

A conclusion came to me very quickly though, although this game this way is very fun, if the computer would get the rebels more organized there would be no way the computer factions could hold off on individual basis against them. They are just too numerous and have so many advantages.

On the other hand I am only on turn 8 and I am having too much of a blast right now playing to care at this time about the faults. Its nice being pure "evil" for once by bringing chaos and heracy to the world.

One thing I will say though is that its simplified. But even simplified it takes forever to go through my build orders every other turn because their is so many territories to control. But with always being attacked or attacking and the dire odds in certain fights, I have not had this much fun in this game as I am having now. I won some sieges that by winning should have been Heroic by themselves for just pulling them off. It is irritating that setting the Mongols siege equipment on fire is turning out to be more hard than it should be when they only have a ram and nothing but horsemen for backup. (Like I said before, I am playing with the Custom Campaign mod to play the rebels, I am sure you can swap to them via a cheat though in vanilla.)

Okay I will. I am just too tired to do it tonight but after work (3pm PST) I will. I am only like on turn, 15 to 20, its been a very slow game because of all the territories it takes a hell of a time to finish a turn.

How do you convert the files from TGA to a normal format without downloading excessive programs that I won't use other than posting screenshots. If someone can tell me I will be more than happy to post. Other than that, I have been playing FARCRY so I have put my campaign on hold. I only played about 10 turns but it was going very well so far. The turns take FOREVER.

Can someone else play this way so I will continue and compare notes.

I can answer your question

Do a search for Ifranview, a free to download image converter. Right click on your .tga file and select open with... then find the program Ifranview and open with Ifranview.

Or, open Ifranview and then select open and search for image files. Easy to use, free to download, all you have to do is hit S for Save as... and then select a type of file.

Urrgggg, I have gotten really lazy but exactly what folder is the pictures in?

Also, I HAVE MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, one of the drawbacks is that it makes you tired all the time.

There is a nice little 500kb+- prog that you can get at Howie's Fun Wares site. One of the best and simplest tools I have ever come across. It can take screen shots of the window/desktop from a range of file formats and save to whatever folder you want. Also, you can designate a hotkey for your screens.

For those with a lot in tga format and needing to convert them quickly (unless you know of a really useful prog that you'd like to share) ; open the tga in Ifranview take a desktop screen, crop it in a simple photo editor, and your done.

Where can I get my hands on "Custom Campaign Mod"?

Oh, and "problem fixer 1.4" or something? Is there a thread somewhere?
I've seen it mentioned a few times today.

Thanks for any help

The Most fun I had playing MTWII was when I went for Rome in my now abandoned Sicily Campaign: Took on 2 full stacks of the papal states with a mediocre army but exceptional mailed knight cavalry. Wish I knew of a way to save the replay of the battle :( Possibly the best ever battle I have had in TW series.

My thoughts are with you Budwise, my fiance had developed a similar problem.
