Hard to really say now but the TW series (so far) has always required thought and knowledge of tactics. The idea of thinking about strategy is a new concept for many (including myself http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif) who are used to games like AOE2 and Red Alert. I assume Medieval Total War will continue to require thinking in order to win...so to answer your question - yes.

I've been playing MP for only the last few weeks, as I was one of the people who started in this forum unable to register due to the server problems. I must say, playing MP has made me a WHOLE lot better, as usually I would win in SP, but it wouldn't always be a very convincing win. Now, when I win MP battles, getting 800 kills and only >350 losses seems like 1300 kills and 100 losses in SP. So I'm sure for those people who play online, the learning curve wouldn't be that bad.

I've just recently started playing online and for the most part it seems really interesting. The problems derive from the units that aren't generally used in the campaign becoming king. I never used musketeers much because they kind of sucked the fun out of it. My intent was to have some arm hacking, head tossing, leg chucking action. Not a repeat of Gettysburg.

I was usually pretty good in SP, it's with the upgrade to multiplayer that you have to get used to a whole new set of factors. Lag, allies with brains, enemies who play dirty heh.

its nice to have allies who dont automatically rush whatever the situation and musks being as effective as they are online is quite a shock

Mp opens up a whole different world of fighting.

SP I found the fighting was nothing compared to real battles.

Where as MP makes it better because as you said your allies and opponents have brains and know about as much as you do. But also are only human and so can command as quickly as u can also. Unlike the computer which can move multiple units in multiple directions all at the same time.

MTW MP is surely going to be a complete TKO compared to STW/MI.
