After a small thread derailment in the frontroom, i've been left wondering - how many .Orgahnisms are users and lurkers of this self-styled 'ocean of piss' that is 4chan? I myself can admit to being a professional /b/tard and lurker of many boards, as Kekvit Irae said 'for needs' ;)

So come on, all you channers come out the closet so everyone can tell you to gb2b.

And for those who don't know what 4chan is...it's the origin of every godawful meme you find on the internets, from the O RLY owl to the phrase 'copypasta'...i'll link you to the Encyclopedia Dramatica article. While it may be more 'vulgar' than the wikipedia article, it is much more informative.

There is only one picture on there that mods might take offence to, so don't say i didn't warn you beforehand. It shouldn't be that offensive anyway, at least not to any straight male of breeding age.

NOTE: Indeed, this link goes to material that is largely offensive and certainly NSFW. Be warned. BG

I'm not gonna link to 4chan because i'll probably get b& by Tosa himself. Use google, fools.

A certain chat regular links to pictures from that site quite often and after watching the first few I stopped clicking on any link that starts with 4chan to keep my mind clear. Also I'm not a big fan of japanese stuff and all things associated with it, probably a logical consequence of my having no humour or something.

In short: No, never.

I'm an occasional lurker. It's an entertaining place at least. Those people seems to switch between intelligent to total retardation and back with amazing speed, and they've got some really funny pictures once in a while too. Right now I'm self-censoring myself from 4chan knowing that Harry Potter spoilers are probably currently everywhere over there though.

However, I made a point of staying away from /b/, since despite my liberal credentials in the Backroom [/jab] my real life outrage meter is actually pretty low, and don't tell me guro doesn't totally outrage anyone with decent decency! So yeah, currywurry, gb2b. ~;)

*note to readers, don't google guro. It's not worth it.

Don't worry, i can assure you that even /b/tards dislike guro. They prefer that guro freaks keep their perverted pleasures to themselves. And as Antiochus said, don't google guro. Unless of course you want to be scarred for life.

It's a shame you avoid /b/. Quite a few entertaining things have popped recently, such as choklit rein.

As I quickly skimmed the forum I noticed this... this... "4chan" name mentioned. It is as if I recalled somebody I know mentioning this name to me. I heeded the warnings put forth in this thread, but quickly checked the linked encyclopaedia anyway. Then I searched the site itself.

Well, what must I say? On the internet there finds itself many a thing unworthy of internet space. This is probably one of them.

Basically, if I understand this correctly, this 4chan thing is about people who post Japanese things such as animé/manga, hentai, general porn and other such things? And the linked encyclopaedia states it is a home to rapists and the likes, but I have seen nothing of this, or perhaps I haven't paid proper attention.

In any case, it is typical: there are (silly) people who have certain requirements and wishes; this happens to be one of those needs some people presumably have.

I think I know where I noticed the name 4chan before: there was a forum I used to visit for serious creative purposes but it also harbored silly teenagers who were obsessed by anything Japanese. It even harbored normal-functioning -- or at least I am to think that true -- adolescents and adults who were obsessed by anything Japanese. Cosplay, animé, etc., etc. I could not understand why people liked this thing so much. Silly humans.

Despite the warning regarding that thing which is called guro, I went and checked anyway. Scarred for life, currywurry? Boy, I've been through things much worse than seeing some pictures.
