Someone should be able to find and interpret the statfile that came with the demo.

I'd like to see some unit stats to compare some of the new cavalry to STW/MI/WE cavalry.

No the cost was stupidy, pride, arrogance of all involved in this, including you, me and the people who have left.

Most particurlarly in my case it was not doing my job, stupidity and some pride.

If you have the demo open the stats file with excel.

Best h-t-h Cavalry is Lancers(or LateRoyalKnights) with attack 5 defense 7 armour 9 Charge Bonus 8.
i.e. att + def = 12, compared to 8 (HC or MHC) from STW.

Well so far Dr. No and Papewaio are winning the contest, but still no list of stats.

I might check around for the statfile when I get back to my home computer, but will probably just go play MI online.

Open the demo unit stats in Excel and look at the column with this header. Stats and general info about this trooptype

Then you will see the list of stats. The one I listed is for longbow. To show the entire list would be two orders of magnitude longer (100 times longer). So I'm not about to as it comes out like gobblygook and is probably not the final stat list for the game so it would be a bit pointless putting in the effort to over analyse it.

This is where you will find the stats for units:

..\Total War\Medieval - Total War (Demo Version)\crusaders_unit_prod11.txt

Copy the file and renamd to .xls and open with Excel.

There is a file that Khan7 sent me (where is he by the way?) called;
crusaders_unit_prod11
open it with excel and resize the columns to autofit the entire document and it becomes rather easy to read what units are around.

I dunno about the rest, but importing the .txt into excel I only see gabage cos the formating sux. Anyway I have rearrange the data in .xls. Anyone still interested?

Tootee what version of Excel are you using?

All I do is;
Open the folder with the unit text file.
Right Click, Open with Excel
Click the top left corner grey button (select the entire document)
Then Format | Column | Autofit Selection (alt + o, then alt + c, then alt + a)

Thanks Pape. What I did was that I open Excel 1st, and then open file, which pop up a window asking me to set the delimited and such, and I can't get it to format the txt right. Opening the text file from explorer as you said did the trick though.

but the problem i think i will face is there are just too many units. which faction is better? or precisely what combo is best for each faction, and how does it fare vs the best combo from another faction? which faction-combo is best defensively or offensively. too many things to try. to many things to experiment. arrgghh.. my head.. arrgghh... but thats the fun.

can we use mix-faction combo in MP?

Youssof is right and wrong...he is wrong on Ajax (of course) but right on the fact most get to know units by playing not looking at numbers.

But when modding and creating patches you must look at them...plus understanding the system is good...(and supporting Juve)
