Anyone know anything about them? I heard they were the most powerful knights in the game

One of the Cavalry threads has some stats on them. I think I read that the French and British get them.

damn the catholic church!
they were determined to take over languedoc i tell you! they first killed the cathars (who were helped by the templars, alot of the family names of cathars and templars are also the same)and then the templars! but you didnt see the church charging them with helping the cathars did you? no, because both organisations believed in one thing which was dangerous to the church (the merovingian dynasty having jesus's blood in it... mary magdelene, gnostic gospels .etc) so they didnt charge the templars with aiding the heretics because it might have opened up the reasons why they did it...

and apart from that the templars were based in languedoc (a area in the south of france), the holy land and they had branches in britain, germany and many other places.

i think the most appropriate place to have templars would be france OR, even better, ONLY armies on crusades...

also the templars never took place in the crusade agaisnt the cathars (the name of it is too hard to spell) even though they were situated in the EXACT same area as the cathars...

According to their unit description, they are the "fiercest" fighting Order, and "may" be the best knights in Europe. The odd thing is, though they are heavy cav., theyuse swords instead of lances...

My personal favourite in the cavalry department from what ive seen so far are the Mamluk cavalry, theyre medium cavalry with good armour and axes, perfect for cutting open any heavily armoured "tin can" units of knights or swordsmen http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
