Hi

Not sure if this is the right place to ask for help but here goes.

When I install M2TW I get a number of error pop ups however I select ignore and the game does load and run. I then patched up to 1.2.

The game ran fine. I then unpacked to have a look at the various files.

Game loaded but crashed upon entering the battle map.:furious3:

Sooooo:idea2:

I de-installed and deleted the "Sega" folder and all it's contents manually (bye bye saved games).

I then reinstalled M2TW (usual error pop ups which I ignore) and patch up to 1.2.

This time however the game refuses to run and comes up with an unspecified error.
Sega have given me a trouble shooting release which I have gone through.

No joy.:furious3:

I've noticed that the system log shows some entries which seem to relate to the unspecified error...

Any ideas as to a resolution? I'm assuming this is down to the missing data and not a system problem with my computer?

It's odd that the game worked last time prior to the unpacker being run but not this time.:help:

When unpacking, make sure you read the readme. It contains this useful piece of information:

- NOTE: Due to a timestamp check, the following unpacked files will
cause the game to crash and must be deleted before the game is
launched:

data\descr_geography_new.txt
data\descr_geography_new.db

Readme's - called that for a reason.

But I have deleted ALL the "sega" Folder inc M2TW in its entirity and reinstalled and patched up to 1.2. I have not unpacked in this clean install. So I don't see how it's relevant to the "unspecified error"???

Am I missing something???

There are other problems associated with uninstalling, i was just saying that uninstalling would have been unecessary if you'd read the unpacker readme.

What errors did you get when you first installed M2TW? Normally you get an error message for a reason.

Even if it worked the last time, that doesn't mean it will work again if you get errors.

Gotcha. Yes that's true assuming it was the error you refer to!

Any error and I instictively re-install I'm afraid. I weanted to re-install any way and then unpack to a mymod folder to work the mod switch.

If possible (like if its disk 2) copy everything to a directory on your computer. If you don't get errors with a straight copy, you should not have problems installing.

I ran into this when I had to reinstall. I think there are a couple scratches on my Disk 2. Since doing a Copy actually makes sure these go through with errors in the first place, that may solve your issue. It did for me!

i also received error message when i was installing the game after i formatted my C drive (CD is screeched:( ).. so during the install game stoped installing, so what i did was - took out the cd1, and inserted it in again, and game was installed just fine.. so just ignore error messages and reinstall it again without deleting previous installations (worked for me)

You may want to contact CA to see if you can get a replacement CD without having to pay for the game again.

Did you patch up to 1.1 before patching to 1.2? If so, that may cause the problem.

You need to patch a fresh 1.0 install up to 1.2, without firstly patching up to 1.1.

Thanks guys I've sorted it now.

I got disk 1 to load without error after polishing it with a soft dry cloth.

However disk 2 was a different matter. No matter what I did there were always errors installing the movie files. Weird thing is it's different movies that get screwed up in each install.

Patched straight to 1.2 - no errors there.
