REGIONS AND PROVINCES
So it has come to my attention in the past few months that there are a select few mod wishers out there who want something SIMPLE. They (we) want Creative Assembly's Total War but with a few extra regions and maybe a faction here and there. Thats the extent of the change wanted by this Happy Few.
Mods like Lands to Conquer and Anno Domini and the like are great BUT it seems as though they change EVERYTHING. Even the main menu for crying out loud. All this change appears to be for the sake of...well, change.
I'm not dogging on them, because they are very talented modders but for those of you who DONT want unit stats and armor balances and building times and EVERY aspect of the game, tweaked to someone else's liking, then I've found you a mod!
The Regions and Provinces mod by sb2ean.
Its CA's Total war, but with a crapload of extra, historically and geographically accurate, provinces. Thats ALL. Most of the provinces start out under control of the rebels it seems. There are regular map versions and the more uptodate BIGMAP versions. The most recent BigMap version 1.5 even has an Irish, Swedish and Mali Faction. Could it get any better? and more simple?
What I've done when using this mod is reduced the starting rebel armies in the mainland new provinces so that the AI factions over take them more easily. This adds vast amounts of Income, manpower, and momentum to the AI factions and suddenly you'll look at the map and it'll be europe on Steroids!
It also seems to encourage enemy AI to walk around with MASSIVE armies.
I think sb2ean has done an amazing job with this mod and I think it deserves alot more attention than it has been getting.
This mod has its own installer which is very convenient so you dont have to mess with files and, once again, the big thing is the SIMPLICITY! there are no seemingly needless changes like in some mods that change everything just for the sake of being different.
If you want to play Creative Assembly's Total War only with a few regions and factions added, rather than some other person's attempt and remaking the entire game, this mod is for you.
The most recent one with the Irish and Swedes and Malis is here:
http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/m...mod/12822.html
But a complete list of all versions of the R&P mod can be found here:
http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/m...ategory41.html
It looks like somebody (not sure if its the R&P author) made a heraldry addon for it with some interesting features. I havent tried it but it might be cool.
Try it out and reply here to let us all know about your experiences!
Have fun everybody!
