View Full Version : Factions colours choosable.....
thia may sound stupid, but so far from the screenshots I have seen I havent seen many factions keeping one colour.
are the faction colours choosable?
If not...
are sum factions multicoloured?(red and white for example)
What are the faction colours?

Well if it's not an option,it should be modable.Although I probably woudn't bother.
I don't think the faction base colour is changeable. Every screen shot that I have seen shows the same colours as shown in the base colour for these shields.
Mods do you have a maximum file size for images which you would like posters to keep under, this was not stated in Miths thread.

Yeah you can change the colors, although I'm not sure if this refers to the shields as the pic Akaoni displayed, but nevertheless, here's the quote I got my info from:
GameSpy: So the battlefield is now FOUR times as big as in Shogun: Total War?
Michael de Plater: Yeah, we'd doubled it for E3, and now we've doubled it again. Plus, we've got 100 different units. You can color your troops different colors by faction now, so even in the midst of huge carnage, you can still make out who's who. We've also increased the detail on individual units to make it easy to distinguish what's happening.
Here's the article:

I stand corrected, however i believe this colour change option will only be allowed in SP.
I think there is going to be problems with multiplayer anyway with ppl not being able to play their favourite faction in 2v2+ let alone colour.
Unless several players (allied) can play the same faction just different base colour?
Does anyone know if this is possible?

While I cannot give you a quote or a link, I have no doubts that in MP you could have a 4 on 4 all-British game or so on. You see, the factions all have a "secondary color", which I think can be changed. In all units this secondary color is quite prominent.
Examples:
England: Yellow
Danes: Red
HRE: Gold
Egypt: White
Russia: Light Yellow
France: Yellow
Byzantium: White
Italy: Yellow
Turks: Green
Poland: White
Spain: Red
I expect these Secondary colors to switch to other colors during faction vs. faction battles.

That would still take a lot of doing . . . as a lot of those secondary colors are . . . well . . . identical
For instance . . . the way you've set up this secondary color hypothetical, in a 2v2 England vs. France Game . . . you have a red faction, a blue faction, and two yellow factions . . . . with the yellow factions on opposite sides :-/.
Frankly, my guess is that they'll do one of three things about it
1) Do nothing about it, and let us all muck around with identically colored armies facing on the field if we choose to.
2) Disallow more than one person from choosing the same faction in any given MP battle
3) Disassociate color from faction in MP games, and allow us to choose the two independently (i.e. there could be two armies of English troops, but only one could fly the banner with a Golden Lion on Red Background, while the other would have to choose one of the other faction banners).
. . . frankly, I don't know which option would be best . . . these are just the three I see as most likely.
Question: How'd they deal with this issue in S:TW MP?? (seeing as how I've never played the game)
I think if 4 players play as Hojo on Mongols, then their banners are random faction banners. That is, you'd see one player with Imagawa banners for example, but the clan still figures as Hojo.
GAH!

ok, that's what I figured . . . my guess is, then, that they'll keep that for M:TW
