The pope can be a general of an army and die in battle?

DD stated at his own forum that the Pope will be a figure like a king, so you could assasinate him I guess.

Why bother?
A new pope would always be elected. There is no dynasty to wipe out so the only reason to assassinate him would be if he is a good commander and at war with you. Julius II took the field in the 16th century. I don't know how often earlier popes may have fought in combat.

Yea, but if the pope excommunicates you, the only way to cancel it is by killing him.

most Popes of old (and some newer if not the whole organization- allegedly) were very corrupt....some were guilty of pimping for example apart from killing for money (example- Templar Knights)....

So its better just to kill as many as you can... or bribe them....this seemed to be the best tactic of the period.
