Thanks. Imagine how long it would take to get to the high era if the game was in seasons :\

The obvious problem with years though is that you cannont attack at a cirtain time of year like summer of autumn

When do you get money? Every turn?

yes but your money also drains away quicker as u build units buildings faster...

Bah!! Let us have seasons !!

Much better gameplay, and then you can truely "wait" for inventions http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Perhaps include an option to select from years or seasons.

Seasons are more realistic in terms of movement times, it wouldnt take a unit of spearmen a year to move to the next province, but then if they had used seasons then the game would be too long and you'd probably never get to the high period if you started from the early period...

You can start MTW in the early, middle or high periods and it wouldn't bother me if the game was winnable in 125 years or so with seasonal turns.

aaaaaaarrrrgggghhhh . . . could we let this one die please? they're not going to change it now, and whether you prefer seasons or years, the game is going to be how it's going to be. My guess is, it will still be an awesome game either way.

Amazing finish the campaign in the early era if you start in the early era. Which would lead to 3 separate era campaigns.

If it isn't just conquer the map version I would like to play a campaign for the objectives.

Dwardling on Mori 1550 (120 unit) finished by 1589. 40 years that is 160 turns. I have found that in STW it is more of an exponential growth then linear. Quick gains at the start then a slow growth. Which gains momentum until I have a third of the map and then woosh it takes as long to take the remaining 2/3rds as the first third.

So with four times as many provinces I expect the time to take the provinces to be an increase of about double. A twenty year rush in STW should have a 160 year rush equivalent in MTW.

I agree, year-based turn is just fine for me. I played Oda Campaign 1530 (120), finished it by 1566. The length of time I spent playing seemed more like 100 years. MTW will be "immpossibly" long with season (note I like to play through all Eras).

years work for me, i like long games, but...seasons would be a little too long. i'd rather go through 4 factions than spend all that time on 1.
