GAH!
Its possible IF we have logfiles for our battles.
If the FORMAT is the SAME, you can use Vanya's logreader without having to change a single line of code. You just need to add the proper unit records into the database.
I cannot say how the others did theirs. But, if they HARDCODED their unit definitions, then they will have to modify their code and recompile it in order to read MTW logs.

Vanya's loggy Anaylzer rules!!! However I only want the kills/army units ...Polar's one is simple and straightforward.

You must...
... have Microsoft Access for it to work
... have ADO 2.1 or higher
If you lack either of these... you'll experience problems. Without Access, the database (which is the foundation of the reader) won't work.
GAH!
I have almost 2000 logs in my database. Its 27 MB size dwarfs the 200 MB or so the log files themselves take up!
GAH!
So you like the battle view, eh? Me too... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
So, for those who care to try it out... if you have a MTW log file, please send it to me. But, here is what you can do to make the log reader work for it.
1. Copy the EXE to a new folder.
2. Run it once, but DO NOT import any files.
3. Exit
This way, you get a clean database to start with!
1. Open the new database in Access.
2. Open the Unit table.
3. Delete the rows you see.
4. Add new rows for the MTW units.
You can give any 3 letter code you want for each unit. But, the field that contains the LOG FILE unit type (unit type?) must match those found in your new MTW Log.
Once you have all your units in, you can fire up the reader and start importing files!
Easy smeasy, Japaneasy!
Of course, Shoggy had 11 units, WEMI expanded that to a whopping 21 or so.
MTW will have hundreds...
GAH!
And...
I'm sure whatever versions youz have now no longer match my own. With the latest version, you can...
... see how your army makeup has changed over time. Or, you can simply see how your use of cav, guns or shock troops have changed over time.
... you can see which armies perform the best and which are the lousiest.
However, at some point, I plan to redo it (MTW willing) to make it friendlier. That is, no more of those 'reports'... it will build HTML pages. You will be able to customize how each report looks. Since they are HTML, you can then post them on the web! I might even make an ASP version that could serve as a basis for an online campaign engine. (But who would host it? If ya know of a FREE ASP hosting site, please post URL here! GAH!) I would even consider making a site where people could upload their logfiles to so they could view their record online. Potentially, even view the records of OTHERS online! Whatever you see in the current log reader you have could be shown on that site!
GAH! Imagine this...
You play some sap. He hosts in Castle3c. You lose. GAH!
You go to the site, enter his nick, and if he has ever used it, you can pull up his battles! You can see that he won 100 out of 110 battles, and all of them were on castle3c!
But... I fear its a pipe dream... Nobody would use it. The database would swell to gargantuan size and the free hoster would say I exceeded my space usage in a mere month! GAH!

Well... if anybody wants to make their own online campaign engine... be sure to post somewhere where I can see it! And call out the name of the Horseman to get His attention!
GAH!
WOW!! just something nice and simple will DO http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif
