View Full Version : paved roads for Pontus
so can Pontus build them or not, and if not what file do i edit to fix it? will it be save game compatible?
thanks
You want to search export_descr_buildings.txt for this line and modify it to allow for Pontus. Is that carthage? I forget.
paved_roads requires factions { romans_brutii, egypt, numidia, thrace, greek_cities, macedon, romans_julii, seleucid, parthia, romans_scipii, gauls, scythia, } and not hidden_resource nopavedroads and building_present_min_level government gov4

why cant they build them in the first place? is it fixed in the next build? will the change be save game compatible?
Theres a thread about this somewhere......somewhere.....:404:
I don't know why as I'm not a historian, and can't be bothered to search the forum. The change is savegame compatible.
Seems to me the general consensus was that they are too barbaric to build them. The main roads they used were already established.

From a fan of Pontos:
defenitly, 100% and absolut YES!!
player faction "Pontos" = engine faction "carthage"
BTW, if you want your Faction leaders have the "Faction leader trait", take a look at thread "Pontic Faction leader trait" (somewhat below this one, maybe on side 2 already).

That is weird... I haven't played Pontus extensively, but I'm positive that they actually should be able to build paved roads; After all claiming descent of Achaemenids who built the Royal Road and not being able to lay some rocks on a road seems more like a mistake than intended... I'll hear with the rest of the team

Concerning the topic, I've had this idea - but I do not know if it technically (via the engine) possible:
- paved roads yes, but after one city upgade later than usual.
- an other possibility: limit paved roads and highways to certain provinces (and / and not certain factions).
What do you, either gamers or developpers think about these proposals?

Why do you want this special requirement for Pontus?
- an other possibility: limit paved roads and highways to certain provinces (and / and not certain factions).
We already have both of these :beam:.

I meant that first point not only for Pontos, but a general 'rule' for factions with less craftship / engineership concerning roads. Sorry not to have made it clear in the original post.
Edit: by that way, one could get a compromise between less craftship & getting the paved nevertheless. Though I see the problem of "Ahistoricism" (word ???) ....
