Erado quoted in .com post " you can play on Gamespy without dishing up the $20 fee for Arcade. That is optional, but not mandatory. And Windows XP users can play on Gamespy by disabling the default firewall.

I got XP with new comp in last few days and am pretty slack when it comes to computer knowledge so can someone tell what the "default firewall" is.. and how it can be disabled. Thought id ask about a month in advance so hopefully i can disable it by then if i try http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Click 'Start' and select 'Help and support'. In the search box type 'firewall'. It should come up as the first entry I think.

i don't think you have to disable the xp firewall, mine is still up and i can use gamespy.
