He imported a large amount and had a breeding program going on so he wouldn't have to rely on buying them .

Did he? I thought he got a couple as a gift from Ptolemaiois or Seleucos, but I doubt Epeiros had the wealth import large numbers (the logistics alone would account for a fortune). One of the EB members mentioned that he did try to establish a breeding program, though.

Pyrrhos got them from the Seleucids, IIRC. Then set up a breeding program.

Too bad it all fell apart when Pyrrhos stupidly died. I wonder what would have happened if Rome conquered a well established elephant farm. :clown:

Actually such a thing alone would have made epeiros quite rich as he could have sold the pachiderms all over western europe..

Hmm... I'm thinking of a unique building for Epirote..?

AFAIK: not a unique building, but the Elephants are only available to Epeiros in Ambrakia at level 4 or 5 F-MIC.

It seems that Pyrrhos received supplies, equipment, and men from Antigonos, Antiochos, and Ptolemaios. Now, why did these successors give Pyrrhos so much?

Well, it seems that Pyrrhos has this bad habit of royally pissing off anyone he comes into contact with and always proved to be a destabilizing element. These three just wanted to get rid of him and were probably very glad when the did.

Maybe you could also give a small trading bonus to the building. reflecting the fact that with such a breeding program epirus would probably become a player in the ESP (Elephant Service Provider) market...

or give it massive penalties to trade, but allow elephants to be created by any of the successor states who own ambrakia, or they can tear it down to save money, but not be able to recruit elephants :2thumbsup:

IMHO the elephant upkeep is enough of a penalty alone...
After all, if you are not using the elephant the next smart thing to do is to sell them before they are good only for army rations...
