What are they and why? NOTE: the choice of Bugs Bunny as a favourite (or generally liked one) is not allowed and the one who chooses it will be severely sanctioned by manners unknown to man for they originate in locations where no man has gone before but you will know if this note is not respected :saint:

NOTE: the choice of Bugs Bunny regarding cartoons/toons one DISLIKES is allowed and encouraged :clown:

My list (randomly):
* Tom & Jerry (the original GOOD version with good SFX, animation, etc., and music for its time)
* Sylvester & Tweety
* Road Runner (...I wish the Road Runner would actually die at some point and I think he did in FG)
* Ren & Stimpy
* Yosemite Sam

Oldschool as in what?
Pre-war?

Or simply not that crap they have on Nickelodeon nowadays?

There's only one good comic: Gaston Lagaffe

Likes:

Transformers (the original series)
Voltron
Smurfs
Tom & Jerry
Merry Melodies (Bugs, Sylvester & Tweety, etc.)
Popeye

Dislikes:

Woody Woodpecker
Scooby-Doo

I'm not sure if all of these qualify as "old school" (particularly Transformers, Voltron, and the Smurfs), but I think they still qualify as "classic".

As long as it's not too "new". Certainly not what it is aired or created nowadays or in the recent past years -- let's say a decade or something like that.

Betty Boop KukriKhan? How the hell old are you anyway? :inquisitive:

Old enough to have seen 1930's and 40's movie-cartoons on that thar new-fangled machine they call "telly-vision". :)

The thread called for 'old school'. Nowadays you can only find them on that thar inter-webs thing.

There are very few people here on the org boards who are old enough to be my old man. i'll check my tone a touch more when playing in the frontroom.

Road Runner and Tom and Jerry, were the best.

Good: SpaceGhost; Herculoids; Flintstone, Tom & Jerry, Tarzan, Voltron, Thundercats, Johnny Quest

Not so: He-Man, any 'girl' cartoons (Strawberry Shortcake, Josie & Pussycats), Archie

The best:

Thundarr the Barbarian

Why?

Well, he had a really cool sword (the sunsword), he had a hottie wearing a bathing suit following him around named Princess Ariel, and best of all, there was Ookla the Mok, a dude I could really relate to. Ookla had a rather limited vocabulary, consisting of variants of "Argh!" His approach to problem-solving was "smash first, if undesirable result occurs, smash again!", and he was just a hoot to watch. Actually, when I'm getting tempermental (like trying to fix the kitchen sink) that's my wife's pet nickname for me.... "Easy there, Ookla".

The Herculoids and Johnny Quest! I'd forgotten about them.

I liked The Flintstones too, especially the Great Gazoo.

Sadly, if I put enough thought into it, I could probably name an embarrassingly long list of cartoons I watched and liked...:shame:

Funny no one has mentioned Donald Duck or any other Disney cartoons.:inquisitive:

The Good:
Winnie the Pooh
Bugs Bunny
Heckle & Jeckle
Johnny Quest
Hercules
H.R.PuffnStuff (Not a cartoon but still...)
The Banana Splits (Also not a cartoon but still...)
Penelope Pitstop
Underdog
Flintstones

Too many to name.

The Bad:

Can't really think of any. I loved all the cartoons I watched. Wasn't crazy about Scooby-Doo, though.

Good: Thundercats

Gah! How could I have forgotten Thundercats?! I watched that show all the time! Alas, I do not remember a lot, as I was rather young(like 7) so naturally I forgot a lot. But I remember enough, for sure.

Here, in my early years, we couldn't watch anything but Disneycartoons, so Mickey Mouse and Donald are my favorites.
And if Gaston Lagaffe is a cartoon too, as Stig suggested, that one gets a vote.

Ducktales, Dungeons & Dragons, and Jem.

Likes:

Ren and Stimpy - not exactly 'old school', but my dad and I loved that cartoon.

Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner - real honest to god humor that still makes me bust a gut laughing.

Bugs Bunny gets an honorable mention for more good laughs.

I watched far too many of the Disney animated series and movies when I was younger, probably have most of them memorized, dunno if that's a good or bad thing.

STRONG dislikes:

Tom and Jerry - sorry, gotta be at least one to go against the grain, that show never once made me laugh, in fact it was boring almost to tears.

Everyone forgot the Supersonics, and Flinstones.

Martok

Ooh, I forgot to mention Darkwing Duck. That one rarely failed to crack me up.

"I am the terror that flaps in the night! I am the gum that sticks to your shoe!"

"I am the terror that flaps in the night! I am the batteries that are not included!"

"I am the terror that flaps in the night! I am the squished bug that sticks to your windshield!"
