I know that in RtR and RtW if you begin a round with, I believe it was 20k, 50k and 100k per round, respectively, your generals that stay in cities, without having moved, have an increasing chance of becoming decadent fools, (gourmet of life, financially irregular, stunningly incompetant, etc...) My question is: does this also hold true for EB? It is truly taxing my patience trying to maintain under 20k in my treasury, especially considering some larger public works cost upwards to 36k. I just can't stand watching once great governors turn into decadent, eccentric and incompetent morons.

I had the same question a while back. Looking at the traits file, it appears that the thresholds are 50/100/150k. Even staying under 150k has been a challenge, sadly. ~;p

I find that as long as my generals have certain base skills like being sharp, have a school or better in their province, and are given a walk every few turns they keep functioning well even if I have a lot of money in the bank. However if you allow them to go down the slippery slope of developing one bad trait (bored is a big warning trait), or not giving them their yearly walk, they start to go downhill.

If you have problems keeping treasury low, you can always build fleet (Huge Poliremes Fleet is one of the best) and artillery.
