Why? Because someone told the truth. Maybe if you weren't such a a commie or if you lived for some years into communist country, you would know how important event it was.
1) If Poland loose, Germany, Czechoslovakia and Austria would be conquered.
Later would be time on LIthuania Latvia and Estonia.
2)There would be one great communist country.
3)Commies don't care about people, so they would simply kill all their opponents.
4)Commies would control german industry and russian resources and build unstopable army.
5)They would easy crush France and Italy. Rest of Europe would be just a question of time.
So don't joke about natinalism and PAY TRIBUTE. Because polish army deserved it.
To some "historicians" - commies had 3 times bigger army. Simply - 3 times more men.
Czechoslovakia and Germany helped commies (Germany) or did everything to stop support for Poland (Czechoslovakia). Belgian and French commies did everything to stop conwoys with gun bought by Poland.
BTW Czechoslovakia even cowardly attacked Poland from back.
So dear commies, socialists and rest of lefties - don't joke about nationalism and pay tribute. WIthout that you would not just read "Year 1984".

The Backrrom is where we discuss Politics. This is forum is for history. What you posted was a political statement - Not history.
Also - As a Socialist, do not say we don't care about people. That is completely untrue.

Uh, probably was closed due to the bit about where you referred to the Soviets as a barbarian horde, cowardly and with no morals, whilst the Poles were apparently 'great heroic saviors'. Look, I'm not putting down the Poles or anything, and certainly the battle should be viewed as an accomplishment for the Polish. But to use that stage to degrade others and put them down, while at the same time putting your own nation on a pedastal, screams of 'blind nationalism', which is something that I'm extremely sick of here in America.
And as to whether or not the Soviets would have continued is debatable, considering that if they started conquering Germany, pretty much the rest of the world would gang up on them, including the US, Britain, France, and Italy. They wouldn't even have to like each other, as evidenced by the Soviets and US working together in WWII. Just out of neccessity, the other countries would have banded together, and the Soviets would have been stopped, more than likely. Additionally, empires eventualy reach a 'breaking point'. The Romans did. The Mongols did. The Ottomans did. Eventually, a single country can only effectively administer so much of an area, especially in after the advent of nationalism. The Soviets, if they had taken Poland, would have been near that 'breaking point'.
Also, your 'historians'? Could you please cite a source for these people? Tell us who they are, what background, etc...?

As evidenced by the battle, the Soviet union was not able to conquer anyone at the time. The victory was certainly a great achievement for the Poles (with or without krook's claim that they were thrice outnumbered by the Red Army), but not a miracle which should not have happened. Honestly do you think the Soviet Union could keep their grip on Poland for long, what with the problems they had at home? They soon had horrible harvests, due to their persecution and massacre of peasants, who burned or otherwise destroyed their crops to avoid having it taken away (something they had been promised would not inflicted on them I think, that no one should take away the fruits of their labours), not to mention widespread economic and social mismanagement and outright civil war. Perhaps the aqquisition of Poland would just have made the entire place collapse. Though then Germany would have had an easier time in WWII, go figure.
This ultranationalism often spouted out by people in Eastern Europe is just sickening. If you can be nationalistic without doing everything completely black and white, a little black and white is okay, for an example we know that the Soviet union was a cruel imperialistic, totalitarian despotic police-state with something which could be described as "state capitalism" that is all means of production are owned by the state rather than private persons.
By the way... Did you guys know Stalin even thought of himself as a tsar? He compared himself to Ivan the Terrible and took lessons in politics by reading the history of Russian and Persian (since he was Georgian he knew a bit about Persia, though he detested Muslims... and Jews, and Poles... And Germans and nearly everyone). When asked by his mother what his position in the country was (in the 1930's I thinK) he answered "Do you remember the tsar? I'm something like that now..."
So dear commies, socialists and rest of lefties - don't joke about nationalism and pay tribute. WIthout that you would not just read "Year 1984".
By the way, did you know George Orwell was a socialist? Quite an avid one actually. I admire him out of the fact that he was one of the notable socialists (at least at the time) to realize the truth about the USSR and their puppet and copycat states.

:laugh4: you starting to sound like some familiar right wing... pay tribute... to the mustachio...
Quite funny, these topics(this and the closed one). :laugh4:
So once again, Poland saved the world against everybody because we all know that everybody hates Poland. also notice that communist Germany worked against Poland and should be thankful that Poland saved it from becoming communist.:dizzy2:
Yeah, it's true that our army was not the greatest at that time and Russia might have been able to overrun it, but then the Allies might have had something against that since we owed them a lot of money. Also note that not only Germany had recently lost a war, Russia did as well.
Anyway, how many roses do you want, Krook?:flowers:

If it would have stopped this worthless topic being posted, I would have supported Stalinist terror. Hang the kulaks! Russify Poland! Mwuhahahahaha!

I won't quite regard the battle of Warszawa in 1920 as a landmark one. The Russians would have had no power whatsoever to conquer the rest of Europe. The tsars were already hated by the population, and they started to lose their power.
And to continue about your nationalistic issues, pardon my insolence, but what has Poland exactly done in the past 60 years? Nothing? Well, quite so.
Split by Nazi Germany and Stalinist Russia, they were surrounded. Occupied by the Germans, soon they were transformed into a big warzone and later into a landmark communist country.

In 1920, Russia was already communist, edyz ;)
Yes KrooK I closed the thread just as I will close any other worthless thread here.
If you want to discuss it you can either PM me or even start a thread in Watchtower about how you think moderating should be done at the Monastery. Of course even in Watchtower you would have to be civil about it.
And civil is what it's all about. I suggest you try a more neutral viewpoint when writing posts here.
And about nationalism, well I'm gonna end this thread with a quote by Sydney J. Harris:
Patriotism is proud of a country's virtues and eager to correct its deficiencies; it also acknowledges the legitimate patriotism of other countries, with their own specific virtues. The pride of nationalism, however, trumpets its country's virtues and denies its deficiencies, while it is contemptuous toward the virtues of other countries. It wants to be, and proclaims itself to be, "the greatest," but greatness is not required of a country; only goodness is.
