If your to dismount a knight, does his attack go down?

if you dismount a knight, he becomes the equivalent "foot knight" unit . . . i.e. Chivalric Knights become Chivalric Foot Knights, Feudal Knights become Feudal Foot Knights . . . it's not that his attack goes down . . . it's essentially that he's become a whole new unit. The Foot Knight units carry polearms and thus have a bonus against cavalry, as well as making good, solid melee troops.
But, since they lose their charge bonus, are they "less efective." And dont Gothic Footknights still carry Maces?

Don't know about Gothic Foot Knights, as I've never used them . . . as far as "less effective" . . . I'd probably put it "effective in a different role" Yeah, they'd lose their cavalry charge bonus, but they'd gain the anti-cav bonus.
More of a defensive unit I suppose.

It appears that:
KnightsHospitaller
CHARGE_BONUS( 8 ), MELEE_BONUS( 5 ), DEFENCE_BONUS( 5 ), ARMOUR_LEVEL( 7 ), HONOUR_LEVEL( 8 ), AMMO( 0 ), FORMATIONS_PREFERRED_NUM_ROWS( 4 )
KnightsSantiago
CHARGE_BONUS( 8 ), MELEE_BONUS( 5 ), DEFENCE_BONUS( 5 ), ARMOUR_LEVEL( 7 ), HONOUR_LEVEL( 8 ), AMMO( 0 ), FORMATIONS_PREFERRED_NUM_ROWS( 4 )
KnightsTemplar
CHARGE_BONUS( 4 ), MELEE_BONUS( 5 ), DEFENCE_BONUS( 5 ), ARMOUR_LEVEL( 7 ), HONOUR_LEVEL( 8 ), AMMO( 0 ), FORMATIONS_PREFERRED_NUM_ROWS( 4 )
TeutonicKnights
CHARGE_BONUS( 8 ), MELEE_BONUS( 5 ), DEFENCE_BONUS( 5 ), ARMOUR_LEVEL( 7 ), HONOUR_LEVEL( 8 ), AMMO( 0 ), FORMATIONS_PREFERRED_NUM_ROWS( 4 )
all dismount to
ChivalricFootKnights:
CHARGE_BONUS( 2 ), MELEE_BONUS( 4 ), DEFENCE_BONUS( 6 ), ARMOUR_LEVEL( 5 ), HONOUR_LEVEL( 8 ), AMMO( 0 ), FORMATIONS_PREFERRED_NUM_ROWS( 3 )
Who are listed as DEFENDER, SPEAR, STRONG
Which essentially is -4 charge, -1 Melee, +1 defence, -2 Armour compared with the knights. Probably good against knights though if they are equiped with spears. Also dismounted would probably be deadly agianst foot troops as well.
So, all the mounted knights have pretty much identical stats (with one exception: Templar knights has 4 charge bonus instead of 8), so ...
Guess my question is: why bother with all the different names?
I suppose the names are different because the Orders looked different. It's a good historic touch which prevents the units from appearing too generic. The Templar difference is curious.
The -2 armor may reflect the loss of the height advantage that men had on horseback. It's easier to strike a man standing on the ground than it is when he's in the saddle.

Possibly, but it would be the bonus to being mounted (possibly being able to wear heavier armour), having a height advantage, speed advantage and a mount that is biting and kicking attackers to distraction.
Thats probably it, so whats everyone gonna do, mount or dismount, or will it depend on the situation. Ill probably get more foot units and keep my knights mounted

It would depend a lot on the situation and the composition of mine and my enemies armies as to whether or not i use my knights as cavalry or infantry...
But 90% of the time id use them as cavalry, especially when attacking, after all, purchasing them as cavalry but using them as infantry kinda wastes their strengths, you may as well just buy cheaper polearm\spear units...
If any faction should go into battle with "Battlefield Bitches" units... even ones with no weapons or armor upgrades... The Chivalric Kinigits will find themselves at a serious disadvantage...
The urge to mount and give chase will lead them down the road to perdition...

GAH!
defending against an all cav army it'd be very useful to dismount your knights an run for the woods
