I have RTW 1.5 and I downloaded EB from here-https://www.europabarbarorum.com/downloads_mod.html

it was EB FTP- the one with the most downloads. I finished installing and tried to play, first of all I would have thought that my RTW desktop icon would not be there and replaced by a EB one since I thought a mod would overwrite my existing RTW.

I click on the EB desktop icon and it cannot locate the TW file:no:
I click on RTW icon, it loads perfectly. Is that supposed to happen? How come I cannot play EB?

'Cause it ain't no joke when the installer asks you to point it towards the RTW 1.5 root folder. In other words: read my guide, the link to which is found in my sig.

On a side note: don't you think this thread ought to be located in the Technical Support subforum?

- Disclaimer: I am not genuinely pissed off by your thread or some such thing; it's just that well, you know I kinda lost track of the number of people with the exact same problem, people who made the exact same mistake. And I kinda lost track of the number Technical Support Questions posted in the main discussion forum - even though people should be able to 'discover' that and figure out why the "EB Bug Report & Technical Help" subforum is there.

You have installed EB to a different folder than RTW is located in.
Read Tellos' guide for help.

Sorry Tellos I did not realise I had mortally offended you. Thanks for the advice, I probably should not have tried downloading it when I was tired it was probably a basic mistake.

Don't worry about it. There are some repeat issues that come up, which tend to provoke a 'Oh no not again' kind of response (you may want to avoid asking about the Lorica Segmentata BTW :beam:). Let us know if you still have problems.

Thanks, according to "Aguide to install EB" by Tellos do you have to uninstall a clean RTW? It says so but then step one is uninsalling RTW? I'm confused here lol.
EDIT whoops sorry straight to step 4 for me.

When reading about ctd's in your numerous threads I can only seem to find solutions for when they happen in game. I have finally downloaded EB and I go to play it, it loads to menu screen, i select imperial campaign (or equivalent), Pick Romani, m/m no advice, start and bam! ctd, can you help me?

We don't help through private messages, email or the like, because it works against the purpose. In the forum, more people are able to see and come with possible solutions, so you get help faster, and others may benefit from finding the solution to their own problem.

So, to the matter. There are a couple of temporary fixes we've found, which may help you. They're already in your installation under a folder called TempFixes, check my sig for how to activate them. Backup the relevant files and activate them one at a time, running the game to see if it makes any difference.

While you're in that thread, be sure to download the permanent fix too, it won't help with starting the game but will make it more stable when playing. Don't install that one until you've tried the temporary ones as one of the temporary fixes will overwrite it or vice versa.

If the game still doesn't work with all of them, you'll have to use Filemon (or its Vista equivalent, Process monitor) to see what the game is doing right before it crashes. Harald Hardråde is currently going through this process, see his thread in this forum for how to set it up and post its results.

Another possibility is that your RTW installation was not 1.5, or was not clean. It can lead to all sorts of problems which many have overcome by uninstalling everything and starting from scratch. You may want to check that your download is intact too, Tellos' installation guide has the details.

Qualification to the Filemon part: Tellos has just made a guide on how to use it, so you don't need to see Harald's thread. Check the sticky instead :2thumbsup:.
