We at EB, are rather getting tired of having to repeat again and again that the next version of EB will not be released anytime soon. However, feel free to have fun at out general direction, as it seems you are so fond of doing...

From that it is easy to understand that EB is hiding something...

I remember as a fan, looking for hidden messages and secret leaks, by the EB team. Now that I'm on the inside, I realize that it was all a wild goose chase. There are no hidden secrets.

The release date of the next version isn't a secret. Not even the team knows when the next release will be.

Due to summer holidays, employment, military duty, natural disasters, or moving, many EB team members have been away and not been around to do tons of work that would churn out releases.

And lots of the work that did get churned out, is now up for betatesting. Estimates are that we will go through at least one more internal version, which will enable us to test out the new recruitment code (for the new units).

And you know what that means: we are going to have a some more good nights playtesting... :grin:

Why not just make the next release 1.0 even if it is .9. At least then people might stop asking when the next release is coming out. Just a thought for the sake of your sanity. Answering the same question 7,000 times must get annoying.

But looking at how the function works I think that the m and n in the first line of the definition of the function should be switched. If that's the case, then the answer is just as helpful as I was expecting it to be :wall:

Is the answer "very close to infinity (depending on your definition of 'close' and 'infinity' :beam: )" good enough for getting the cookie?

I also tried using Matlab, but the answer is a really big number I think, too big for Matlab to handle it seems. And using the "traditional methods" (as you put it) didn't help much either. I didn't realize until now how fast my math skills have deteriorated: it's only 4 years ago that I was following mathematical courses on an academic level, and now I don't even remember how to tackle this :embarassed:

Things I can tell about the function:
- The function does terminate for all (whole number) values for m and n (easy to prove: m=0 terminates the recursion and all the recursive steps decrease m or n. Decreasing m eventually leads to m=0 and decreasing n eventually leads to n=0 which leads to a decrease of m, etc. Also m is never increased and n can only be increased from 0 to 1, but this step also reduces m by 1.)
- By looking at the numbers (instead of deducing :sweatdrop: ) I did eliminate the recursion for some cases:

f(1,n) = n + 2
f(2,n) = 2n + 3
f(3,n) = 2^(n+3) - 3
After that I couldn't generate any numbers to look at because they became to big...
