View Full Version : Why is this site not listed as a MTW fan site?

On the main page of the MTW.com site they list 4 fan sites. DD's site is there but not this site. Why?

I would hazard a guess that this is probably the single largest STW/MTW community right?

We're considered too critical for a link on the fanpage http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

We are possibly bigger than .com anyway... aren't we? with 2284 registered forum members (magy and cham as 1) surely .com doesn't have more than that.

But also we are possibly considered competition for .com because .ORG is so goddamn good.

The ORG is by far the best official orunofficial site for The Total War series. If it wasnt then it would have stopped running months ago.

Why do people care so much about post count? If you spam your way to a high post count (im not saying Stephen did since i havent been here long enough to know) then people will think youre a tosser regardless of how many posts you have, a high post count means nothing without the respect of your peers that accompanies it...

no-one thinks JAG is a tosser, no-one is allowed to spam, we are more important than .com, Medieval will be released on the 21st of August, maggy and cham are different people.

oh...and no-one cares about post count http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

If you rub IT's back I'm sure IT will edit your registration date.

We're not listed because everybody overlooked it, even the admins of the ORG. We'll be on the list soon.

Why this would spark some people into thinking competition between .org and .com is beyond me of course. They're both there to enjoy or not. And if the number of registered members is a key issue, as someone suggested, then the ORG is in trouble. The .com has over 2900 registered members, and 400 new ones over the last 3 weeks.

Who cares? They are both there for a reason. At the moment certainly the historic background discussions on the .com are way better than over here. Here the discussion on modding is more fun. Enjoy both, as you are welcome on both. If there is competition, then it's in the minds of the patrons, not the admins/moderators of either site.

the problem with the .com's historical discussions is that they are either about lithuania or about hungary =)

Funky Phantom
08-14-2002, 22:30
Whereas ours are mostly about Russia... :P

Erado the Black

Hmmmm... for your information, they got some nice ones going on about Scotland and about a number of historical characters in the game.

Hungary and Lithuania are still high on their minds, but it looks like the dust settled a bit http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

In all fairness, You could more or less sum it up like this:

If you want to talk historics, then the .com appears to be the place to be.

If you want to talk modding or multiplayer, you just better get your butt over here.

If you want the most in-depth info on MTW, better rush over to Darkmoor Dragons site.

As far as registered members are concerned, I think the .com has the edge over the Org, simply because it's the forum of the developers, where new people are likely to end up first. I regularly advertise the Org as the best fansite to visit, simply because it is.

I think this is a fine situation, I'd like both forums to be buzzing with good content and sensible discussions, and at the moment that's pretty much the case.

absolutely and we've still got the better colour scheme i hear

hamstar

yeah
I mean for gods sake this red-black isn't very inviting at all.In fact it's the reason that I am only registered at this site.It just turned me off the first time I was looking for a STW site and maybe I'm not the only one.Hope that they will change this some time.

Besides the colours there are indeed some very interesting discussions on there though, now that holidays are over I rarely have the time to visit it.

Hehehe... I do come back here to give my eyes some rest from moderating there... true.

Wish I had the keys to changing the layout. Must have a word with the admin about that.

I'm back...is our site on the list yet?

We will see about a facelift...we definitely need more graphics...I think.

This is an excellent site for MTW or other discussions and an interesting community.

I don't post at the official com one, just lurk from time to time.

The Medieval site (DD?) has much more game info though.

This site should be on the list for sure
