I'm on a dialup, so to download the MTW demo would take a little over 11 hours. Is it out on the demo CDs of any magazines yet?

Yup. Several different rags have it in their current issue CDs

The current issue (September) of PCGamer magazine has it on their demo disc, along with a demo of Battlefield 1942, and Soldier of Fortune II.

They list Battle 1942 on the banner ad, so it is easy to overlook the MTW demo.
